Why? The slave trade happened, not only in America but all over the world. We have to pretend that it didn’t happen now because “I’m offended”?
There are hundreds of other scenarios that could have been chosen. This was #1 on the dumb list.

Do you believe it was the teacher's intent to legitimize the slave trade?

Historically accurate scenarios are now considered dumb....Let that sink in for a minute.
And didn't someone a few posts earlier try to claim nobody is trying to remove it from history? The whole intent of the PC bullshite is to remove things from history.

These threads are always illuminating, especially when you get the two or three (hopefully not serious) posters that jump in with the variant of "I don't get the problem here"

Correction...it's still happening in parts of the world.

A little incentive to post a gif of a child in a thread about slaves when children all over the world are being trafficked as slaves, don’t you think?
A little self awareness goes a long way, buddy.

I understand that this is the point being made by most here, and I agree with that part. It’s not what I’m arguing, though. This is just another slippery slope example of what is going on in progressive America. This could create doubt in teachers going forward on how they can approach the topic of slavery. As we know, people can claim to be offended at anytime. As you can see from the article, this went from “culturally insensitive” to “racism” (district superintendent) really quickly.

plenty of historically accurate scenarios that don't belong in 5th grades exercises

if a teacher can't tell if asking 11 year olds to decide if their slave is worth 5 or 7 bushels of wheat is appropriate, then they probably shouldn't be teaching

0% chance you are consistent with that response

A Missouri school district is promising staff training on cultural bias after an elementary school teacher asked students in an assignment to “set your price for a slave.”
How many more of these dumbasses are going to do this?

Nope, just a knuckle-dragging neanderthal that is uncultured.

OK class, today we will be discussing the Holocaust.
Our exercise today will be to make you the commander of a regional concentration camp. A train has just arrived packed with Jews and now space in running low and some of them have got to go.
How would you allocate who gets sent to the gas chambers? All children and those who can't work or would you try for an equitable distribution across the population?
Also, remember that wars cost money and a lot of these Jews had gold fillings that could be extracted? Does that factor into your calculations?
Please calculate how much money can be redirected to the Nazi war effort from both their teeth and the fact that you no longer have to house and feed these prisoners.

I’d say that as long as they avoid a “how much would little jimmy fetch at auction?” role-playing scenario amongst 10-year-olds then they are probably in the clear.
