I'm sure that will improve their test scores

Granted it's in Mississippi, but this school is the top elementary school in the state.

The school's website. It was a National Blue Ribbon school in the past and some school ranking website listed it as the top in the state for 2015-16.

well dont forget to rename the Jackson Public School Board as well since its named after Andrew Jackson lol

and lets not forget that every town, county, and street in the whole state is 90% named after racists according the SJW manual rules for radicals and how to overthrow a country from within using its own children and mindless radicals destroying their own history

It's in Mississippi, so saying they are tops, is like claiming to be the #1 turd, in a punch bowl of turds.

And keeping it as Jeff Davis will help it? Who gives a shite what they want to name it? I'm sure it's not a white school.

Point is a name change isn’t going to change anything

IMO they should spend their time working on solutions to decrease drop out rates, getting tutoring programs set up or anything that would actually help a kid get a better education to have a decent future

I have no problem with this. If the voters in this community want to do that then it's fine.

Unfortunately for Barry his name is going to be used on a lot of schools and roads where a ton of poverty and crime exist.

How many roads and schools named Martin Luther King Jr are in desirable parts of town

Its a magnet school that attracts the smartest kids in the system. It and Casey are the only schools in JPS that are worth a damn.

Basically if you can get into Davis (now Barack Obama) you go until 5th grade then get a full scholarship to St. Andrew's Jackson Prep or Jackson Academy so they can feel diverse.

There is a girl from Jackson that just wrote a NYT Best Seller in her 20s and signed a multi million dollar movie deal that went that route. Went to Davis, went to one of the privates on scholarship, went to college on scholarship. It will be a huge movie in 2018. Major studio doing it. I heard her speak recently and she mentioned Davis as "getting her a start for loving learning"

The book is loosely based on her life as a teenager that at night lived in a rough part of town and saw her friends shot at night, but went to an elite prep school during the day and had rich friends.

This is a photo from the set. Seems like it is mimicking St. Andrew's.

Bc we already know "diverse" doesn't actually mean diverse. It is just a euphemism for "anything but whites up in here."

All that diversity certainly has strengthened that school!!!

I'm certain that highly diverse school is a bastion of education.
