Minimum wage jobs were not meant to have for a lifetime.
Being a 25 year employee at a minimum wage job is an embarrassment

Right. Minimum wage jobs are not meant for people to sustain a home.
Start looking for other counties to move.

they don't like facts dude. just ignore em
Oh, that's right. You almost certainly haven't formed your own opinion. One was given to you and you likely haven't actually delved into a single iota of the data yourself.

We should get rid of minimum wage and “entitlement” programs. Let the market dictate the worker’s worth.
And like, let people get by a merit?
We’re done with that.
Being a good at things won’t mean anything in 30 years. Value as we know it will be gone.

In 2020, if one is an adult making minimum wage, it represents such a colossal failure at life as to be seen as a fricking unicorn.
A borderline retard staring at McDonalds at age 16 ten years ago would be making WELL above minimum wage today. So, if you're 25 or older making minimum wage, how you managed to accomplish such a spectacular feat should be studied and you should be looked at as someone who people can't even believe has managed to stay alive that long.

Anyone that settles for a minimum wage job instead of aquiring the education or skills to move to a higher paying job deserves nothing more. There are infinite paths to self improvemnt that cost nothbng but your time and effort.

The real point here that our lib friends don't get is.........if I wanted to get a min-wage job right now, I wouldn't even fricking know where to look!
I mean seriously. In many places, they basically don't even exist.

For real, I have a cousin who is on the autism spectrum and I think he makes $10/hr at Michael’s (craft store).

Are you drinking? It seems like you are drinking. Maybe you should watch a movie or something. A lot of good films on Criterion right now.

Ok, maybe drinking but that is spot on.

Nothing uncomfortable about anything you wrote. I don’t have any data about whether, for example, bussing tables still pays minimum wage, although I would assume it does. That was a minimum wage job I worked in high school, along with cutting grass at the club. I got more money cutting grass in the neighborhood so I only cut grass at the club one afternoon a week and spent most time working for neighbors.
But I haven’t worked minimum wage in so long I had to google what it is. Then I verified that it still has fallen behind inflation.
I know my hourly realization for my work, because I keep up with the value of my time. But, as you aptly observed, if it was anywhere near minimum wage it would be extraordinary.

1.7 million people work minimum wage jobs.

The minimum wage has been pretty much completely overcome by the economy. The entire argument FOR the minimum wage is that you basically HAD to have it or companies would pay worse. But, companies are paying ABOVE minimum wage now for nearly all work that only made minimum wage in the 80s. Yet, you guys haven't learned ANYTHING from that fact.
quote:But, this misses the point. FAR FEWER people actually make that wage today. As a percentage, about 80% fewer. Basically, the only people left making minimum wage are teenagers or people who have failed in spectacular fashion. And frankly, most of THEM don't make min wage.
But I haven’t worked minimum wage in so long I had to google what it is. Then I verified that it still has fallen behind inflation.
The average Wendy's cashier in Huntsville is now over $9 an hour. That used to be min-wage.
fricking Publix baggers in Huntsville make about $10 an hour.
Seriously, if your goal was to make minimum wage near where I live, you might not figure how to accomplish it.
