Read The Relaxation Response by Harvard MD Herbert Benson. There are decades of research to back it up.

good thing to teach a kid how to self-soothe

Call me crazy… but maybe this stops a kid from shooting up a school.

You are a supposed professional in this, and you can't recommend one book? At least the poster Olsteen posted about the guy who thinks that pets are divine.

Nope. I can just see the Trojan Horse that leftist progressives are using to indoctrinate kids, or perhaps the poor fools that are grasping for something to replace prayer.

You are just as bad as the "leftist progressives" you do not like. You have the same mindset which is "my views are right and everyone else is wrong". Mindfulness isn't associated with a political ideology.

Explain why it is great practice.

It’s literally just training your mind to live in the moment and not get swept away in thoughts or emotions.

It’s life changing and wonderful.

You should embrace meditation and other forms of mind relaxation instead of acting like an arse about it.

Mindfulness is associated with a religion, when it is introduced into schools it ultimately becomes political.

People of all religions practice mindfulness.

You may be the only person in the world that thinks this

The Army tried to have me embrace this shite as part of the billion dollars they spent on their positive psychology program for combat vets.

Their purpose was to basically force soldiers to forget about the fact that they were incompetently losing two wars at the time.

In less than a minute I found articles and then books so if you can't find any serious research then you are an absolute moron.

No here is another person and it is not me.

Can there be Catholic mindfulness?

The very first sentence in the article directly contradicts your theory dumbass

There are many books that discuss mindfulness, but I can't find any serious scientific study, that used a control population and one that tested the variable.

And the last paragraph refutes yours.

quote:

If you struggle with anxiety, my recommendation as a former Catholic counselor is that you don’t turn to Buddha or pop-psychology, but to Christ. He is the One who promised that if we fill our minds with whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, whatever is excellent, whatever is worthy of praise, what you have learned and received and heard in and through His Church, do; and the God of peace will be with you.

It CAN be associated with a religion, but it doesn’t have to be. You’re sky screaming at nothing right now.
