Then you have no idea what the word general means. Had i said

everyone in this thread is old
this thread is nothing but old fricks

Those would have been generalizations.

I can agree with that. I am not going to expound on it for a lot of ideological reasons, but the materialism of the 80's and 90's pretty much fricked everyone except the upper middle class and above. It's become a possessions race to feel normal.

Id say most people who reach the pinnacle did so because they had a stick in their arse about the plight of the everyman. I just have a problem with the notion that a person who looks around the suburbs at all the 9-5ers working towards 65 waiting for the day the bossman gives them permission to go home, and says "frick this nonsense" is somehow lazy or in the wrong. Its everyone else who has no drive IMO. Or as you might say, is a dumbass.

I will freely admit that I'm lazy.

I'm not a Boomer. I'm a middle child of history.

Nothing if you can back it up with work ethic and ability.

some random experience you've had

Pretty sure my experience isn't random. I have networked with the right people, worked extremely hard, and parlayed that into success. That's been the recipe for success for a couple hundred years. "The harder I work, the luckier I get."

Good on you. No problem with that at all.

and you somehow managed to blanket categorize all millennials (80 million) as spoiled and lazy.

The chronic whiners that you all pile onto and agree with could possibly bring on this view the world has of you.

One of you can have my gig, as soon as I get tired of it or don't need it any more. Wait your turn.

Seriously. It's like they just want to turn a blind eye to anything real that is going on in the economy and tell you to just "work your way out of it"

I'd never retire if I took his route and I'd probably want to blow my fricking brains out.

Anyone who complains about student loan debt instantly loses me. No one forced them to go to college before they could afford it and you should understand the cost/benefit of your degree before choosing a major.

There's nothing wrong with pursuing a blue collar job (plumber, electrician, etc.) or joining the military out of high school. I hate the stigma attached to anything other than a white collar job.

I worked a blue collar job for 5 or 6 years until I saved up enough money to get a degree that would almost double my awesome $18K salary. I kept looking for opportunities to make myself more marketable in ways that I knew would pay off. I'm now earning 6 figures. I see younger people doing the same thing so I know that path is still open.

Work hard to make yourself indispensable. Live within your means and learn to be happy (but not necessarily satisfied) with what you have. Don't be a victim.

I’m partially with you, but you have to admit that high schools and parents really brainwash these children into thinking this is necessary. A lot of these kids think this is the only option in life and it’s not until two or three years into college they realize it was a bad idea, but it’s basically too late.

I mean, I agree responsibility is on the person who got the huge loan without a solid plan. But those people are usually KIDS and they think they have only one choice in life. They have a choice, but they don’t realize they have a choice. The education and parenting system failed them as much as they failed themselves. And colleges don’t often give you an “ROI on your major”. I know mine didn’t.

ETA:

I didn't have to pay for college and I'm very lucky in that sense. But a lot of my friends did and we all took the same college prep classes and watched presentations from visiting colleges, etc. 100% of my classmates went to college and I'm sure 25% of them are in massive debt because of it and have no way out.

I'm 6 years older than you and went to Weedlawn with a bunch of poors. Most of the white kids had phones, the drug dealers had at least 2 and while you couldn't do much there was "internet".

I think you're mistaking "phones" for "pagers." It's OK. It happens with old age.

Fwiw, I didn't get a cellphone until I was 16 and it wasn't actually mine--it was my dad's and he let me borrow it when I went out at night so I could call him if something happened.

I had internet when I got into high school. It was dial up.

Don't make excuses for your insane views. You aren't some world traveling expert on all things society. You have no idea what millennials are like. I do. I am one and so are 90% of the people I interact with when I'm not working. I can assure you the vast majority that I know are just looking for answers and a way to earn a living.

I work at a Fortune 500 company in a large market sales world. The vast majority of the folks that work on my team are 30 and under. They are driven, educated and career oriented people. I'm talking about under 30 somethings who manage clients like Bridgestone, HCA, Vanderbilt etc.

Both of our views on millennials are limited. But I can assure you that yours is far more limited.

tbh my living room.

I like to hear everything and I pace around my living room .

But sometimes I'll go to Crows Nest. I do go out a lot though, usually around midtown or East Nashville.

ETA:

But I'm certainly down to grab a beer. I never turn down a beer.
