well, they should be retiring but they aren't because they didn't save for retirement.
Where do you get this bullshite? Exactly why should they be retiring? The youngest Boomers will turn 53 this year. The oldest will be turning 71 and I'd venture a guess that most of them are retired.
I don't know of any point in history where most people retired in their early 60's. Its the exception not the rule but here you are expecting it.

Half have nothing saved. There are dozens of other studies that come to the same conclusion.

And the baby boomers, as a generation, haven’t stepped up individually, either. The Insured Retirement Institute released a report that found that just 24 percent of baby boomers are confident they will have enough savings to last throughout their retirement years. Just 55 percent reported having savings for retirement. And of those with savings, nearly half have less than $100,000 – an amount that would generate less than $7,000 a year in retirement income.

1) Do you think that boomers are any different than those that came before them in this respect?
2) Do you realize that over 40 million boomers are 62 or younger? That's about 2 out of every 3 living boomers. 62 is not retirement age for most generations past or present.

There's a strong middle class in the music industry like any other. You don't need to be a superstar to make a living. 2016 saw growth and 2017 is looking even better. It aint going nowhere

There is also a career fair in the dome Feb 10th. It is for local college students and former students, so you might try and get in on that

But a lot of younger people will complain about having to work outside, working weekends and holidays and large amounts of OT.
Oh well, can't have your cake and eat it too.
Well this just simply isn't true.

Half have nothing, but I know many lifetime plant workers (operators and engineers) with several million in their 401k/rollover IRA's.

If someone has even a modicum of personality and quickness, they can double that income by working in the service industry.
Millennial slackers and an entitlement mentality. Whattasurprise.

34 as an Assistant PM and 3 years from retiring Army National Guard with 2 deployments. With boomers retiring soon, I am going to keep busting my arse till those opportunities start opening up.
And I supposedly fall in that Millenial category according to the year range. So I dont think that argument is entirely accurate.

People in their 20's will have a higher quality of life, have more free time and access to tremendous amounts of information. Most will probably be working 25 hour weeks with decent wages in 20 years.

Which is why they'll need robots to entertain them. Or frick.

Not crying. Stating the truth.
My wife and I arent millennials so we dont cry but it doesnt take a genius to figure out that when my wife can go to beauty school for $7k for 2 years and ends up making $70-80k while my brother goes to 4 year college for 6 years, leaves owing like $60k and comes out struggling to find a job and finally lands one making $35k/year, well then there is definitely something wrong and since its been boomers in charge of the economy the whole time...well...frick boomers.

Everyone told millennials to go to college but gave them no guidance on what to do once they got there. Hence all the graduates with liberal arts degrees and no career-relevant work experience.
In today's world with the cost of training being what it is as well as the huge pool of labor available, employers can afford to be more picky in terms of who they hire. You no longer set yourself apart from the crowd just going to college and getting "a degree." For a lot of careers, that's a part of it, but there's more to preparing yourself for the working world than just getting your bachelors.
In fact, a lot of people would be better off never going to college. This is the one thing that aggravates me about Democrats pushing "free college" tuition. A college degree isn't the ticket to a good life for everyone. You have to develop an interest or a skill that is going to make you money. With a handful of exceptions, you won't learn that in college. You should tailor your education around what you are good at or what you are interested in and not just get a degree because everyone should go to college. For a lot of people, they'd be better off and probably make more money if they'd go to a community college and learn to weld as opposed to getting a business degree from a university.

Sounds like your wife is a lot smarter than your brother and neither of you want to take responsibility for his stupidity.

according to some here, most of them have degrees in accounting, business, CM. Not liberal arts. So you see the system is rigged, older people are to balme and therefore should retire so these young wizards can get a job.
and not just any job. A good job. So they can buy a house and start a family. frick that entry level shite. They have a degree. Therefore they are valuable and know all they need to know to start working. Again, its not they who have it wrong. Its the rest of the world

Posted on 1/16/17 at 9:35 am to tigerinthebueche
Entry-level is not actually entry-level anymore. Entry-level means 2-5 years of direct experience and a college degree. Jobs for recent grads with 0-1 years of experience are extremely hard to come by. That's the problem
