It's very obvious what the problem is in this country, but you aren't allowed to talk about it. You aren't allowed to notice it. You just have to take it on the chin. A burden, you might say.

That was gone years ago. I'd say by the 1980's that was over. However, we have created a new standard of living.

Houses in the 1960's -70s averaged around 1800 sq. feet. Nowadays, the average is probably 2500 sq. ft. That costs more money. monthly bills then were what? power, water, home phone, gas bill? now we have cable , cell phone with data, water, gas etc. That cost is through the roof.
Cars today are 10-20x cost as 1970's. But they have waay more features, etc.
Further, today few compaines have pensions for their employees ( except lazy government workers), so now you have to take out a % for a 401k.
Bottomline just a lot more overhead nowadays that requires 2 income household .

With population growing exponentially, yea we really are. We've tripled our pop in the last 100 years. That'll probably 4x or 5x the next 100 years. That could be around 1.5 Billion people in America in 100 years.

I agree. It's good that the government subsidizes some households so that we can keep the birthrate above replacement rate :)

While those are serious issues, its not even on par with mass starvation/disease/war over resources/etc.

You cannot just keep growing our populations indefinitely unless we can start moving to other planets.

Can't afford to have kids when the cost of everything is rising and your employer doesn't want to pay worth a damn.

We are not at replacement level. Its not a slowing of increasing breeding, its a backwards movement.

Agreed, our birth rates need to be higher and other groups birth rates need to be lower.

The generation before millennials is Generation X.
