Cold busted! Sorry fellas, don’t know where that yankee slang came from. I’m pure southern drawl in person.

I put an end to it at my house. My son decided that he would order Mickey D's or something akin to that from his room in the morning while his mother was making breakfast. I got wind of it waited for the stoned delivery driver....all these kids live stoned and took the order to the trash can and dumped the drink. Then waited for my son to freak out about it while his mother and I ate and his breakfast that mom made was sitting on the table.
I said, " what's the problem?" He said " oh I di not want what mom was making so I orderd McDonald's through doordash" I said. " You knew your mother was cooking breakfast and you did that anyway?" He shook his head and I continued, " yeah, I thought so, that is an incredibly insulting move. I knew you did it, so right now the flies in the garbage can are enjoying it outside." He freaked of course, but he got the message. If he does it again the Doordash kid will be taking it home

Darth, do you feel your day is better or outlook more enlightened by spending your valuable time interacting with restaurant employees?
Ive used both apps and phone to order food. It usually depends on if where I’m ordering from has an app. It’s been my experience that one method isn’t much different from the other. I haven’t really run into hassles or problems with either.

As much as I like ordering online, I am reminded of this chinese restaurant I used to order at where often you'd order online and the restaurant would have no record that you ever ordered any food

Faster than waiting on hold for all the boomers to ask about substituting fries for heart healthy veggies, less prone to errors (but that's still an issue), etc.

Yeah I'd agree with you - that is NOT okay.

The thought that I would order food, give inadequate directions, pay good money, and expect it to be dropped off on the ground by a stranger who has already been tipped in advance who doesn’t know my location except for my generic address, and then hope that it’s not tampered with as it sits there for God knows how long on a busy street, and then I would feel safe to eat it is just unthinkable to me.
Negative much?

My kids order Door Dash all the time, but they have to use their money and they can’t do it in place of meals provided they don’t want. I get it. I’d have killed to have the ability to order fast food from my phone when I was a teenager. And it’s delivered to the front door!?! Even better.
But yeah, use your own damn money for that $10 delivery fee. There’s sandwich meat and bread in the kitchen otherwise.

Instead of by phone… and by phone I mean telephone… where you actually speak to a human at the restaurant.
There must be some benefit to ordering on-line, I just don’t see it.
This morning, I saw that Door Dash had delivered a bag of food and a juice to the abandoned house next to my work place. It’s been sitting there for three days.
I’ve seen this happen many times and it really boggles my mind.
I'm sure this has already been said but you're complaining about the delivery process, not the ordering process.
The only legitimate possible point is in the payment process.

But that's the problem with the Zs living at home and the ones who have summer jobs and some coin. They act like because it is their money they can do it at your house and they don't see how it is insulting. Like it does not register to them.
So you have to make a big statement.

Maybe Jeff Bezos can take your novel idea and begin taking all orders by phone.
Maybe we can bring back the dictaphone so secretaries can get back to preparing inter-office memos instead of CEOs writing emails.
Are you dictating these posts on TD? Your wife must be a real keeper listening to you over the phone so she can type what she thinks she heard you say, and then call it back to you before clicking Submit.

If you want to make them really uncomfortable, make them maintain eye contact while talking. It’s physically impossible in many instances.
They're probably wondering why the creepy old grumpy man is staring at them like some psycho instead of treating them like a human being.

If I have to pull up a menu online to figure out what I want, wouldn't it be a hell of a lot more convenient to just click a few buttons then hit submit. As opposed to find what I want, call the restaurant, hope you don't get put on an immediate hold and disconnected. Place your order, hope you don't have a simple change that they screw up (no mayo/sour cream)...the rest is the same after
There are some restaurants a call in because they give menus with their orders, the others I'll go online (always try to use their site before going doordash)

What is so generic about a zip code, street name, and actual street number? The information you need to use is pretty specific. You aren't telling them to turn behind the Circe K, take the first left, 2nd right, and it's the teal blue house on the right. But make sure not to drop off at the sky blue house, they'll just eat the food and claim they don't know anything about it

It leads to much more inaccurate relays than the "write down what the person ahead of you" wrote.
it is not even that, most apps give the restaurants a ticket printer and it relays your order with you instructions on it.
Not saying they won't mess up order for picky eaters but it is much easier for them to get it right. Restaurants mess orders when you are sitting down there too.

You are doing the restaurant a huge favor by not taking an employee’s attention away from other issues.
