Just because you want or believe something to be true, doesn’t make it so.

But yet they didn’t have the common sense to keep from getting knifed to death by freaking ISIS by riding stupid bycycles right into the Goat humpers’ back yard.

I laughed a bit, while shaking my head. These liberal type tree hugging, vegan, all people are good, are delusional! Like Obama thinking he could "deal" with Iran. One cant reason with radical extremist nor make the mistake of believing those people are not radical and extreme!! It was stupid and irresponsible for them exposing themselves to fricking ISIS! Smh... What did they believe was so special about their "infidel" asses, that ISIS would give em a pass??????

No. I just read a little through their stuff after the story came out, and I didn't get the "I'm doing this for clicks" vibe from them. Plus, Central Asia is an interesting, sometimes misunderstood place that I enjoy reading about.

ETA: And blatant untrue things like the "ISIS Territory" part of the OP title bug me.

No offense, Millennials. But it’s doing stupid shite like quitting your job to bike around the world then getting killed by terrorists in freaking Afghanistan that make the rest of us look at y’all and just shake our head.

These sorts of statements are so ridiculous. Like boomers never do anything stupid.

Darth is statistically way more likely to be killed on his motorcycle than anyone traveling through Tajikstan.

I suppose we should all mock and laugh at him if that ever occurs.

He built and lived in a tiny house in order to be able to save money to travel. He was featured on an episode actually.

Vegans are strict vegetarians who just eat plant type products with no animal consumption whatsoever. Even staying away from bean foods with lard..

There's different types of vegetarians...

Like ovo-lacto vegetarians who eat eggs, and dairy products... but no meat.

You are correct, but if you really know about these people, borders don't mean the same to them as it means to us, westerners. Tajik and Afghan share a border.

It was the first attack on Westerners ever in the country.

Sounds like what the pitbull owner says the first time it maims a child. I've said this before, but there are plenty of other countries and areas in the world to ride your bike, why chose an area or an adjacent area where the mindset is as anti western as it is in that area.

It is also not "ISIS territory" as the headline claims.

though technically this area is not "ISIS territory" the "governments" in place aren't really controlling things either.

quote:

They were on a route that many bikepackers ride. It is a common route and no attacks had ever occurred on the route.

How many is the "many" you refer to and in a region that doesn't have many paved roads let alone roads, is it really that its a common route because its actually the only route through that area?

It's a mountain road by the Afghan border. No different then someone saying they want to go hike the southern border of the US, get killed, and then having someone say well how can this happen. It may be totally safe to hike in the US, but not near the southern border. This is where common sense and a little bit of reasoning ability comes into play.
