Ok? What are you suggesting?
100 years ago people worked 80 hours a week at 9 years old. 100 years before that they were lucky to have water to wash off the cow shite after working a field all day. Keep going further back and it gets worse.
Life is hard. I hate that fact as much as anyone else but it is a fact.
However, life is easier than it has ever been and I feel blessed to live during this time.

Don't have kids if you can't afford them. Another simple solution
I honestly think most younger people don't associate having kids with a budget. As if they have a right to have a kid whenever they want... Which they do... But how many people have kids because the people around them are having kids instead of when they are more financially sound?
It should be illegal for people to make major life decisions before the age of 25 (I am joking obviously, but between the time someone graduates from HS and 25 seems to be the time period people make a lot of stupid mistakes).

Indisputably.

But your example of $150K house....that just isn't realistic in most places outside of the South.
Even in places outside the South that don't have what is considered a high cost of living...$150K isn't getting you much at all. Nothing in a safe neighborhood at least.
You are essentially a broken record. I feel like this response makes up 80% of your posts.

No life is easy, at least in the USA, pretty much universally across the board. Even if your parents are complete shite heads and dump you into foster care, your life is better than 99% of the rest of the world and better than wealthy people of less than. 100 years ago.
Life is easy, making smart decisions to make it even easier seems to be the hard Part for people as they tend to make decisions emotionally instead of logically.

Most people can’t afford the lifestyle they’re living

It is, news flash.....don't move out of the south then, especially if it's not for a raise that covers the COL plus some. And if you do, don't bitch about the COL after making a stupid decision.

You just hit the nail on the head. They can afford kids, just not living the lifestyle they live. Sacrifices have to be made.

Most people will never afford the lifestyle they're living, kids or no kids.

I think I spelled it out pretty clearly

Correct. People have made it work for generations, they'll continue to make it work if they really want it to work.
It's a simple concept that seems lost on some folks.

Yup.
The white-collar DINK couple complaining that they can't afford to have children is laughable.

Yeah, that people can’t afford kids, yet millions do. Because they can afford them, but not really.
ETA: you keep using the word lifestyle, which seems to imply a matter of choice.
Yes, people make poor choices and often don’t think them through.

Gen Z is (I know this is Millenial Thread) seem more pragmatic and financially aware.
I havent had kids because I don't want to go down in lifestyle. That's a clear choice that suits me and shouldn't apply to the whole population.
Another factor is student loans when it comes to budget and actual income to purchase homes.
The average home in DFW is approaching 250k or might even be over that now.
You will only find homes less than 150k in less than desireable areas...aka shitholes.

Something previous generations didn’t have to deal with is most areas being shitty with bad schools
If you aren’t making a great income, owning a house in a decent area is going to leave you living on the edge

That's a very practical and realistic stance. Honestly most younger folks I know are more like this than the stereotype.

28 year old millennial checking in.
Bought a $325,000 home on my own earlier this year. I do not feel guilty b/c most of my friends and peers rent. I feel superior to them.
Obviously wages have not increased at the same rate as home values have, but that didn't stop me, and I don't even have a college degree. It's possible, you just gotta put in the work!

Thats fantastic, but you are also what we call an outlier from the statistical mean.
