Yeah, this completely stupid. I got tired of rent. Purchased and lived in a mobile home to save money. Sold it, used savings for down payment on home, sold it, bought a slightly better home, sold it, bought a better home. Sold it, bought a better home. Now in this home for last 18 years and will sell it and move one last time.

At 35, (technically a millennial) the only person who does not own a house is one of my friends who just got a divorce and they sold the house. He rents a pretty nice apartment downtown and could definitely afford a house if he wanted one.
Where do they find these people? How is that so many are absolutely worthless?

I know a girl who went on vacation with two of her friends on a Spring Breakish type of deal, got literally sick the first night because she was so scared of being away from her mom and they had to come home. Quit college after a week cause it was too far from home. Parents have created kids who are now adults who literally cannot function and when they cant function they have to blame someone.

I’m not so sure. My daughter purchased a $205000 condo in NOVA at age 28 with no help from mom or dad. We’re a high cost of living area so I’d think there are a whole lot of place in America where $150k can get someone a property to start with.

They want to start off with and expect something nice. Bought my first home just out of med school. A fixer upper that I did a ton to in the few months I had between the end of med school rotations and start of residency. Then over the next few year made gradual improvements. Sold it for quite a bit more a few years later and used that towards down payment on new home.
I don't get why more don't do this. Hell, you can YouTube everything now. I had to look that shite up in books and limited dial up internet.

I've lived in Gulfport, MS and now in the Springfield, MO area and $150K will get you a newer 3 bed 2 bath 1500 sq ft house in a good neighborhood in both places. What more can you ask for in a first house?

Most of these articles are written in either New York or California, where real estate is extremely expensive. Not hard to imagine people just starting out can't afford a place to live.
