I'll never have one of those damn things in my house - cyber security nightmare to have a "connected" home. Is it that damn hard to operate a thermostat or turn on a lamp?

Did you get rid of the other 8 things in your house that are listening to you?

You don't have to connect Alexa to anything. I don't, I just use it for my morning news and weather while I brush my teeth and take a shite. And as an intercom system between rooms. And to play music occasionally and white noise sound machine while I sleep.

It's not connected to any other devices or my house.

Yes, it is listening. So is your smart phone and smart television. I just don't care.

For my wife, yes. Now if I could just get Alexa to close all the open doors and drawers she leaves, I’d have it made.

There is a PIN number attached. Don’t give it to your kids and they can’t order shite.

So it's connected to the internet.

Well yeah, but he was talking about thermostats and other smart home shite. Obviously it is connected to the internet.

See his comment if you're confused:

Other day we got an alert from Alexa, so i asked her for the alert, she told me it was time for me to order more beef jerky again. We both laughed.
