Prayers for you for sure. I was diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer with spread to the liver in May. At that time I was told I was inoperable and that they would try to manage the disease and use pallative care to try and easy symptoms and improve quality of the life I had left.

Fast forward to June 30th and I met with a very skilled liver surgeon who specializes in liver surgery for cancer and the whole treatment plan changed. He said he could see several ways to operate with curative intent depending on my response to chemo and radiation.

As I write this post, I am sitting in the chemo chair getting my 8th treatment and I will be getting a CAT scan in the next day or so and will again go to the liver surgeon to see if he is ready to start my liver surgeries. I still have a long way to go in this fight and at least 2 maybe 3 surgeries ahead of me but, the fight is worth a shot at living.

I won't say that chemo and radiation treatment has been pleasant, but the side effects have been very manageable and I still have all my hair and have not vomited at all since I started chemo. The Pre-meds they give does a real good job with the side effects and the side effects that are not controlled are, so far fairly mild. The worst is the fatigue that builds up over the treatments.

Wishing you the best, but don't give up so easily cancer is not a death sentence like it used to be.

My best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 esophagus cancer in September. She is on chemo and after 3 treatments the tumor reduced by 40%! She said the chemo has not caused many issues. She had more pain with the Nulasta she has to take after the chemo.

I was just diagnosed last week with some form of liver cancer. Going to the oncologist today to get the prognosis.

You are in my prayers. I would not wish the last week I have had on anyone.

This past summer we spent 6 weeks at the Hope Lodge in Rochester, MN while my wife was undergoing treatment for lung cancer at the Mayo Clinic. There were a lot of throat cancer patients there. From what I gathered by talking with them it isn't the chemo that's the problem. It is the radiation treatments.

You're painting a very grim picture, so I just wanted to chime in some and let you know that within the past 5 years I watched two people go through fighting throat cancer. They are both twice your age and within just a few months of chemo/radiation were rid of it and have been fine since. I'm not going to say the ride was all roses, but well worth LIFE and not leaving your family heartbroken. They are honestly back to completely normal lives now. It already feels like a distant memory. For the record, I hope it's not cancer, but I do wish you the best if it is and hope you decide to fight it.

His name is Dr. Paul Castellanos. I've seen him do some amazing things with throat cancer.
He is one of my father's doctors. My mother loves him. I had some doubts about his approach with my pops, but he's still alive, albeit without a larynx. Good luck Motown, hope it is benign. If not, you're young and can beat cancer. It's not a death sentence.

Best of luck LSU2001 as well

Prayers man. Don't give up.

I dip and drink, and throat cancer is a huge fear of mine. Just had a baby a week ago and been trying to quit dipping.

The wait for test results is tiring. You don't even know if it is cancer, but you have that thought hanging over your head while you wait.
I am a cancer patient, six years into this. I second the suggestion to contact MD Anderson if you need further opinions. Please know that there are treatments available now that were not around 10 years ago. Keep us posted on what happens.

First and foremost thoughts and prayers for you.

Secondly, you need to seriously adjust your attitude. The people I know that have beat cancer are positive, upbeat and fighters. That defeatist attitude is what loses. Get your head on right and if it does turn out to be cancer fight like hell and beat it.

We're all pulling for you.

Damn man - good luck with this - hoping for you that it is not cancer

The medical field can do some amazing things - find the best medical help and get your arse to them ASAP.

I am no medical professional but if you are sick as you described in your post, I would be looking for more immediate care.
