My vehicle is a 2019 Chevy Traverse (I’m the wife
)
I like it. It handles well, is easy to drive, and is very comfortable (we travel a lot).
I test drove a telluride, Pilot, and a Highlander. The traverse was the roomiest and we needed a car that sat 8. I would’ve liked the Tahoe or the suburban for the room and the height off the ground - but at the time the price of the traverse could not be beat. The Pilot was my actual favorite (driving wise), but it was too small and the material the seats were made out of was really ugly and cheap.
Not sure if this helps since it’s been a few years.

I have the CX-5. I don’t love it, but it’s adequate. The electronics have given me lots of trouble in various ways.(slow infotainment, shorted infotainment and poor performance in 100+ heat). I’m not taking it to the track, so I don’t really care about speed and handling so much, but it certainly doesn’t feel as “bulky” compared to some of the others in the class. Sportier, but not like a BMW. If I had to do it again, I’d try to get a more reliable Honda or Toyota, assuming I could make the price point work.

Got my wife (no pics) a 2012 Chevy traverse shortly after we were married and it was the worst vehicle I've ever owned.
Electrical issues everywhere and transmission issues after 15k miles.
I hated that damn vehicle. But the room inside was solid. The interior quality was not all that great.

Go used.
The Jim Gaffigan Edition Aztek would be my choice:

2018 GT. It’s entirely possible I got a lemon. I also came from a Toyota, so maybe it just doesn’t compare.

I know it's off topic but it's been too long since the last travel ball thread

Check out the new Nissan Pathfinder. In terms of size, it’s in between the cx9 and traverse and it has a nice rugged exterior aesthetic with a damn nice interior. Well equipped models are low 40s and fully loaded high 40s. Nissan is offering zero % financing for 3 years too.

Good luck finding one. We gave up.

Wife drives a 2018 cx 9. Plenty of trunk with the back seats folded down. The way the trunk is setup the seats go down to trunk level without folding into the floor. Can fit 7 adults fine. I'm 6'2 200 lbs and fit fine in the third row, is tight but for drives to dinner, movies, less than 2 or 3 hours is good.
She was recently rear ended at like 45 mph. No injuries to her or our kids. Car took the impact like a champ.
Interior is very nice. We have the one below top model. Didn't get the top due to the leather color is limited to one type.
Joy to drive and is very nimble. It will spin tires on take off due to torque and geared for initial acceleration.

I hated the Traverse but the current gen is actually pretty good. And it’s probably the largest 3 row crossover available for under $60k. If you need more space than that, you have to go with a body on frame SUV like a Suburban or Yukon.
I get why it’s popular. It’s much, much larger than the CX-9.

Mid size SUV Mazda CX-9 vs Chevy Traverse
Your only option is the Traverse if you need to use the third row. And that car has actually gotten really good the last few years.
Between the two, I prefer the styling of the Mazda. But the last one I drove was cramped, even in the front seats with the panel of window switches bumping up against the driver’s knee. I could not get comfortable.

Mazda’s “Soul Red” is a really beautiful color.

DUDE!! Unless it had flowers and is painted pink, then it’s not a wife car.

I wouldn’t buy a Chevy unless it was the only choice

Just upgraded my old lady’s telluride to another telluride. 120k on the first one lost very little value. Second is a 22 nightfall awd…other than maybe a little more pep needed it has been flawless. We were in DC for the last snow storm the awd was amazing for those conditions.
Saying that I was very concerned about the build quality over time. It seems KIA has done a fantastic job with those problems.

You drove a CX-9 2019 -2022 and you were cramped? How tall are you? Im 6-1, I wouldn't think that's tall enough to have an issue.

I believe the traverse is the largest crossover, period, and has more interior space than the Yukon/Tahoe (or at least the previous generation, not sure if the traverse is still larger than the new gen Yukon/Tahoe).
