Apparently they are from Lake Charles. Went to eat at Place St. Charles just before this happened (could have been me). On the way, passed several groups who appeared to be from Lake Charles that were kind of rough. One lady told her kids (under 5) to shut the frick up or she was gonna take their toys and throw them in the street. Kids don't have a chance.

Since New Orleans officials are incompetent, the city needs tourism dollars to survive. If city officials had a brain, they would make sure to keep this area clean and keep the shootings to the hood, since this is supposed to be a nice area that attracts tourists. Instead, it looks like fricking Lagos. But cleaning it up is asking way too much from New Orleans.

And in Lakeview, one of, if not the highest tax bases in the city, it feels like you driving in Lagos.

The shooter probably hates being overcharged for over-roasted coffee.

I always worry about him walking around the city. He thinks it's still like it was in the old days.

You mean taking pics for a “Top 10 signs gentrification isn’t working in N.O.” thread is a bad idea???

It would take a Guiliani level person and shift in attitudes to clean it up.
And NOLA has a Latoya level person.

Really? Who went to LC after Katrina?

Baton Rouge, Houston, and Chicago ppl love to say how much the Katrina evacuees ruined their cities

I always LOL when I’m told that and they look at me like I’m crazy - then I ask them ‘Where y’at, dawlin’?’ And they quickly run away

If Canal and St Charles isn’t safe no where is. That trash mayor needs to get a grip.

I wear a mask when I’m around folks I don’t know. Inside or out. I don’t know how necessary it is, but I err on the side of safety.

I do not, however, expect everyone around me to do so. It’s a personal choice, not one I’m trying to force on others
