There are a million people in Metairie, and every single one of them has a car. And they are all on the streets at the same time.

Metarie is a wasteland full of pain and degradation. That's why there's a bridge so people can't turn around easily.

Haven’t been to Metairie in a few years but grew up in Old Metairie. I really miss riding my bike to Sal’s to get ice cream and bringing it to Metairie playground. Mark Twain’s was great too.

Metairie east of Clearview Pkwy is booming. The rest of Metairie...not so much. The apartments along I-10 are becoming another New Orleans East while west of Clearview might as well be Central America.

The population in 1980 was 164,160.
in 2020 it was 143,507.
Per Wikipedia

It really is. I was ready to go there in my seersucker suit to play gin rummy and drink Ojen, but the guy at the door told me seven letters had been lodged against me.

Dang, had no idea it decreased that much. Wonder why? I’d think pre Katrina population would be back to normal

What i dont understand about Metairie is WHY is it UNINCORPORATED??
With 143,000 it should be Louisiana's 4th Largest City!
But when they say the New St.George (86,000) is LA's 5th Largest City in the State...they Do Not Count Metairie since it is Unincorporated.
St.George really should be 6th behind Lafayette (128,000) & ahead of Lake Charles (77,000)

No, he didn’t

Worst thing JP did was zone all that shite R2. Problem is, back in the 70's and 80's when all those apartments were built, younger professionals were moving in, now it's just the opposite.
Like all the apartments on Lake Ave, use to be a lot of medical students, now they're filled with Mexicans, along with Fat City. Except for the nicer more expensive gated ones.
It's like all burbs, starts out well, then goes to shite. At least the parish is buying all those shite apartments in Fat City and turning them into green spaces.
If I could go back in time, I would tell JP council members to keep everything R1.

You misspelled Lafayette

Booming is usually synonymous with bombs, not hand guns.
