Yeah I realize that, what I was told was that some of the farms around the Holly Ridge area were built for the purpose of generating some power for the data center.

Rumor is that there will be 1200MW of generation in that area.
It is a 1500MW combined cycle power plant solely to power the Meta datacenter. This is the first of 6 upgrades and investments Entergy is doing in LA. St. Francisville is next.

The proposed data center, which requires regulatory approval, is expected to employ between 300 and 500 people with an average salary of $82,000. This is a significant boost for the local economy and a testament to Louisiana's efforts to attract major technology companies.

I call BS on the jobs. But let’s see how it plays out.

In this morning's Advocate they sa I d that it is a $5B project.
What is a data center? And why would it cost $5 billion?

There are energy projects in the works all over Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arky that are tied into or somehow involved in this one facility. I believe they'll be running generator, solar and dedicated power from a proposed Entergy natural gas plant that will be nearby.

State has really put a lot of money into this site after they lost the opportunity for that Toyota plant. A lot of those "mega sites" already have sewer, transmission lines, and fiber installed.

Halfway between Monroe and Vicksburg, in the middle of nowhere but an interesting location logistically.

The jobs number for the data center, is that permanent jobs or temporary for construction?

Also putting solar on arable land is a horrible idea and needs to be decentivized as much as possible.

Data centers especially one of this size require technicians and facility engineers. There will be a sizable amount of permanent jobs associated with this project.

North Louisiana (where I am from) has something industry wants: lots and lots of cheap land.

And an abundance of gas and water to run these data centers. Would be awesome if, instead of using solely freshwater, they could clean and recycle water from the Haynesville field to help run these things. Maybe those plans are in the works?

Also think about proximity to data feeds, how many of y'all know that a supercomputer center exists in Vicksburg?

If it is an AI datacenter, are the number of those jobs going to outpace the other job losses to AI?

Or is it for processing everyone's private data and advertising?

About an hour from Ruston and Vicksburg. Easy drive on 20 either way.

considering how freshwater neutral is a huge ESG initiative, I would assume these talks are being held

It may not be everyone's cup of tea so to speak but there is some really pretty land and nice lakes up there. It's not a horrible place to live. There are also 3 colleges to pull a work force from and just to rub it in there will be a Buc-ee's in Ruston. That area around Tarbutton will explode.

If I am not mistaken you are from the Lake Charles area? If so there is no need for you to be so uppity.

Yes, this is not uncommon. Nearly all industrial facilities have dedicated power.
