What marketing benefits? An advertising campaign that panders to less than 5% of your potential customer base while it turns off 30-40% of your potential customers does not seem like wise marketing to me. I doubt that the crossdressing mustached thing would be less likely to buy a Mercedes if they just ran normal non-SJW ads.

Companies that are supportive of diversity says "we support YOU". It doesn't matter who YOU are, we are with you (and while I say "it doesn't matter who YOU are" there are some exceptions of course. It doesn't appeal to Islamic terrorist... or groups of hate).
Who drives Mercedes? Is it a vehicle that is popular with the hardline Christian conservative types? No. There might be some people who decide to not buy a Benz strictly because of their diversity ad, but they will likely gain a lot more people because of it.
You think companies are willing to lose money, risk their stock dropping, etc just to show they support diversity?
