Are we still ignoring that these cops were apparently on special detail and don’t do traffic stops? There’s more to this story

Nope, not ignoring it. That's an important part of this story.

And you’re completely off the mark per usual. Functional normal people don’t want to be cops in inner cities anymore. Thugs like in the video are what you are left with.

Almost like you are reinforcing what I just said in your own way, which is that Police departments are often shite, and filled with shitty people.

But let’s not pretend that police brutality is a recent phenomenon.

Rodney King happened 30 years ago.

Bloody Sunday happened 30 years before that.

From 1980 to 2018 30,000 people were killed by police. Far and away more than any other industrialized democracy.

Social issues interact with policing issues, no one that isn’t blind to societal interconnectedness would deny that, but one thing needing fixing doesn’t somehow negate fixing something else. Especially when it also can make improving the former more difficult.

What else are you proposing? These guys had body cams and still were brazen enough to do what they did on camera.

Training wouldn’t have prevented this. This was a murder.

And it’s classic for your party to want to focus on this and completely ignore the societal rot that has inner city folks constantly interacting with police. Know how many times most people interact with police? Almost not at all

You’re free to go reply to that post all you want. But seeing as you are already bending toward the ad hominem path, I’m guessing I can predict how it will go….

The Officers who were involved were assigned to a street crimes unit. This means their mission was to likely interdict guns, drugs, stolen vehicles, or other felony street level crimes. These units are always very aggressive by the nature of their mission. They stop a lot of cars under the umbrella of traffic violations, but their true intent is to look for other items. Over time, these units often slowly begin to abuse their power and their tactics become increasingly hostile.

Watching these cops was like watching the movie Training Day. I was waiting for Denzel to roll up in his Cadillac and blast him in the chest with a shotgun.

I'd even say stuff like this was even more prevalent a decade or two ago before everything was video taped.

Whatever it was and is now, it is going to be 10 times worse. Just wait. You will have some bullshite excuse too.

All I heard was the cops yelling from the time sound starts.

Do we have audio from the beginning showing that the cops started off confronting him in a loud tone? No we don’t know what was said leading up to that moment.

Evidently, he was in car for a while before others drove up so there was something that caused backup to be needed.

"If the cops are angry and kicking you in the face while you're on the ground, you probably did something off-camera to deserve it. Cops don't just get angry like that!"

I’m sorry words are difficult for you

But I’m not interested in being the substitute teacher for the education you failed to complete.

No one denies social issues need addressing, but to assert policing issues should be deemed irrelevant and ignored because of that? That’s bootlicking nonsense

What a stupid arse “stat” to throw out.

You know how many people are killed in that same time frame from some medical screwup?

9.5 million considering the average is 250k deaths per year for 2021, and I would imagine was higher in the 80’s and 90’s.

Do you expect the toxicology to in any way justify the conduct of these cops?

An entirely meaningless statistic meant to fit an agenda. Never use raw data to compare countries. That’s complete nonsense.

How many were justified? Out of how many interactions? What’s the % or peaceful resolution vs fatal?

People that cling to shite like that, or tell people to hold off on judging the murderers despite all the video evidence, have already justified the murderers in their own minds….they just want to try and win the PR war for their “side” and work on recruitment

Did I say that? Is it not part of the full picture? Excuse me for wanting all the details. I know Saint Floyd being a cracked out ODing didn’t change the narrative for you guys, but I like to deal in reality.

Just seen this pop up in my timeline SIAP

quote:

Lauren Witzke
@LaurenWitzkeDE

We are investigating a tip that 3 of the 5 officers in the Memphis PD beating of Tyre Nichols were members of the Vice Lords gang and under their direction.

Other gang directed beatings were reportedly found on their phones.

Recordings as proof of carrying out the beating.

quote:

According to our source, they somehow were hired because the standards have dropped since police departments have had a hard time hiring, due to BLM movement.

quote:

All of the cops involved had been with Memphis PD 2-5 years each, which coincides with the exodus of White cops and the city’s stated push to hire majority (exclusively) black officers.

quote:

We have reached out to @MEM_PoliceDept for comment.

quote:

Update: Allegedly there is a Bonding company in Chattanooga that many believe is financially backed by the Vice Lords. Huge bonds are being made by this one company for this certain gang.

They have members working as jail officers as well. It seems they have people everywhere.

I offered multiple olive branches in the other thread to have an actual conversation to discuss the social underpinnings driving cycles of crime and poverty in the other thread.

You seem more interested in being a caricature and virtue signaling though, so I’ll leave you to it…
