Meh. I'm not taking MPD's word on the reckless driving until I see the actual footage. There is footage out there, and I think the sequence of releasing the beating footage to the public first is questionable. I also find it questionable that we do not have an official autopsy or toxicology report. Those can take weeks, but it has been weeks. If Nichols was high on something and speeding recklessly on busy streets through oncoming traffic with police giving chase, as I suspect he was, that is an important piece to the story and explains the degree of responding force. The suspect resisted and fled, after physical force and non lethal implements were used, which further escalated the situation. I think the defense is going to have things to work with. There is too much groupthink on this without having all the facts in hand.

I work in a restaurant and the only time I have seen Memphis this quiet on a Friday night is when it has snowed or iced.

People defending these cops are morally bankrupt scumbags. I used to assist in training that if one cop saw another cop inappropriately using force, that cop should stop it immediately up to and including physically removing the offending officer from the situation.

French "riots" and American riots are two separate entities. Hell last week a relative that works in France couldn't get into her office building because of a "protest and riot". Just a buncha turds angry about pay. They didn't burn any businesses down or murder anyone.

Yup. If not for the pole camera they probably get away with it too.
He never appeared to grab or go for anybody's gun. If he had they would have likely shouted gun and shot him. And he was beaten so badly he went into a vegetative state. That's not high.
And to the other poster who said he was no saint. They rolled up on him with guns drawn and yanked him out of the car before he even knew what hit him. It wasn't like he was a violent suspect. Then they called him a bitch. I could see how that was frightening and his flight response caused him to run. Of course it's always ideal to just comply, but he didn't deserve this type of beating. The officers did not seem genuinely interested in cuffing him during the 2nd scene. It very much looked liked they purposely wanted to get some shots in first before arresting him.

I’m not watching it but I’m imagining cops pulling me over and me knowing I didn’t do shite. Then them starting to wail on me after not letting them wrongfully detain me. All the individual rights, open carry people, etc should unite wholly behind this one.
