These idiots are releasing it around 6pm on a Friday. They are wanting stuff to pop off.

Or they don't want to be there at the offices if it does "pop off".

Eta....DA only took 3 questions.

Not in an ongoing investigation nor is it required if an argument is made by legal counsel that releasing it to the public prior to trial prejudices the defendants from receiving a fair trial.
My bad.

Is it an "ongoing investigation" if murder charges have already been filed?

Was that argument made? All they have to do is make the argument? Not even successfully make it?

If you're referring to the girl who got raped and hit by a car....yikes.

What you have noticed is liberals and or black people coming into these threads to stick up for the black criminlas. Like always.

So here we have a guy that is throwing blame on a dead young girl, not the black men that raped her.

Having enough evidence to indict doesn’t mean an investigation is over.

No, but only two of them have retained legal counsel and that just happened today. What I don’t understand is why the State would want the video released already. To me, it would ultimately be counter-productive and give the guys charged some leverage.

This actually came up in a death involving a LEO in Knoxville a couple years ago. The DA wouldn’t immediately release the videos to protect the integrity of the investigation and preserve the admissibility of the evidence at trial. He stated he didn’t want to run the risk of trying the case in the court of public opinion and ultimately hurt their prosecution

They should be charged with first degree murder, not second.

Here is the relevant statute. How is this murder 1?

39-13-202. First degree murder.

(a) First degree murder is:

(1) A premeditated and intentional killing of another;

(2) A killing of another committed in the perpetration of or attempt to perpetrate any first degree murder, act of terrorism, arson, rape, robbery, burglary, theft, kidnapping, aggravated child abuse, aggravated child neglect, rape of a child, aggravated rape of a child or aircraft piracy; or

(3) A killing of another committed as the result of the unlawful throwing, placing or discharging of a destructive device or bomb.

There's a lot of smoke going around that this was all over a woman, so if thats true that could make it premeditated. Just a rumor but its out there and picking up steam.

Also, if those emt's were fired because they didnt take him to the hospital on the cops request then that makes it intentional imo.

Again; these are just rumors, speculation and opinions at this point.

That might actually be the best case for the city if that turns out to be true. Can't blame it on race or police brutality if it was a personal beef over a woman.

That would do it, but kidnapping seems like a stretch to me here. I guess that will come down to the facts of the initial stop and then chase.

The rumor is that the dead guy was banging one of the officers woman. The DA refused to answer a reporters question regarding if the traffic stop was a legal stop for a traffic violation. If it ends up they targeted this guy... wow.

There were 4 investigations going.

Shelby County DA
TBI
FBI
DOJ

These guys are going to be charged by other agencies.
