I just spent two days in Memphis and it's a lot more attractive than most places in Louisiana.
West Memphis

West Memphis

Memphis or Baton Rouge, so which does this come closes to?
Bridge from Arkansas to Memphis...longest in the world ...Arkansas to Africa.
OR
I-10 bridge ... longest in the world ... Port Allen to Africa.
Toss up!

You should visit Gary, Indiana or Camden, NJ
Yea but people don’t actively visit those places
People actually go to Memphis

It’s the biggest city near the Mississippi Delta. It has no chance to be nice.

Maybe Chicago?
No
Yea the projects are bad, but they’re bad in all cities, but who the frick goes out of their way to go there?

parts of it are a dangerous shithole.
Of course as are all big cities
But who the hell goes out of their way to go there?
You can live in and visit Chicago without even noticing those parts

You from Parkway Village?

People are sleeping on Montgomery
There are cities like Jackson and Montgomery and Gary where there just really aren't very many redeeming parts of the cities whatsoever.
Then there is a place like Memphis, where the shithole parts are unavoidable but there are legitimately good/interesting parts too.
Then there is a place like Chicago, which has pockets that would rival any shithole in America but the huge majority of Chicago visitors won't come anywhere close to those areas and there very little bleedover. That's a big difference, IMO. In places like New Orleans or even Atlanta to some extent, the shitty parts encroach on the good parts with some regularity. That doesn't really happen in Chicago very much, as far as I know.

Originally, yeah. Cottonwood Cabanas for the first 4 years of my life. Then, about 3 years 2 streets over from Woodale High School. Showed my kids where I used to live. To say they were unimpressed is putting it mildly.
Currently... and for the past 40 or so years... Germantown.
I didn't know there were any parts of Germantown that were still without power. Dang. We get loopy when the power is off for more than an hour.

The bigger the city the easier it is to hide the shitholes

You must not travel much but since you asked:
Bigger shite hole than Memphis:
Sacramento, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Newark, In fact just about anywhere in NJ, Wilmington DE, Cleveland

Near the airport is a shitty area. The good areas are decent.
The good areas mostly aren't in Memphis.
Memphis is represented by that cocksucker Steve cohen. That's all you need to know.

Sacramento might be the epicenter of California politics but I've never found it to be a shithole.

It’s a shithole, but there are far far worse. Hell Jackson TN is 20 minutes away and a bigger shithole than Memphis.
Go to White Castle or Donaldsonville, Memphis is like Manhattan by comparison

What the what? I've been there 3 times. It's California's version of Newark, NJ.
Bad food, bad traffic, protests everytime I've been there, homeless everywhere.

Memphis is pretty damn shitty.
Though, I recently went to Baltimore with an open mind, but other than a mediocre and touristy harbor area, downtown was horrible. Worst downtown I’ve seen for a big city and I’ve been to basically all of them
