I find it pretty repulsive for pastors to get rich off of the people of their church. Would anyone here feel different if a pastor is rich because they write and sell a ton of books but don't take a salary from their church?

THis is what Olsteen does. He hasn't taken a salary since 2005 but was taking a 200k salary before then.

I have less of a problem doing it this away, but it is still very hypocritical. They should live modestly and donate the rest imo. and 200k for that position is outragous.

I think if a pastor is rich, then he is a hypocrite. They should donate 99% of their excess wealth.

Exactly. A true pastor is there to serve. Live a decent life based off a salary, but even books, etc are done to bring more into the church to do The Lords work.

Got to love the aethist that sniff these out too. Tithing is a part of Christianity, just like govt taxes, if it isnt being used properly by your church then find a new church. Doesnt mean stop tithing. Simple. God isnt judging you on how it's used, but on you giving what He requires. He'll judge the ones using it improperly when it's their time.

People need to mind their own business. If he wants to buy his wife a car then good for him.

And its just semantics. He's not taking a "salary" from the church, but he's a paid speaker because of his position in the church and he's GUARANTEED to sell 20K copies of whatever book he writes BECAUSE of this.

eople dumb enough to give money to these churches deserve it being thrown back in their faces like this.

Once they’re so big do they even need donations? Surely they make a pretty big chunk of their money from advertising, book sales, and endorsements for the pastors?

Why would a pastor ever need an endorsement?

There is no one in this world that’s going to convince me that any of these so-called “megachurch” pastors got into that for the right reasons. Those assholes are good salespeople and use their mouth to manipulate people who are very weak willed and lack self esteem and the ability to root out what’s real and what’s an outright fraud.

It’s bullshite and it’s disingenuous to say the least. Shame on that prick with the Lambo and shame on all the other pastors who help to facilitate the biggest lie in Christianity. They’re all in it to line their pockets and evangelization is a distant second.
