I don't see how he will ever be able to retire comfortably with a $3,000/month debt payment.

No, not if I didn't have the funds.
My parents didn't pay any on my college. When I first wanted to go to a technical-type private school it involved a split loan between me and my parents. My mom nixed that with the quickness.

It's not as if Clark's children went to the most expensive schools in the country. Three of them went to small schools in Pennsylvania, where Clark lives, and the other two went to other state schools on the East Coast. But even for public universities, tuition costs have been soaring for years.
Public is not that expensive. PSU is expensive but there are plenty of schools in PA with tuition under/around 10k. Also this implies two went to OOS public schools which is just stupid if you don't have a scholarship

No, and his kids seem like entitled assholes for taking him up on it
this is the biggest part I can't wrap my head around... the guy is stupid for sure, but they willfully accepted it. yikes.

You have to wonder why the guy who thought this was a good idea couldn't keep his marriage together

If he just waits a while, Biden will forgive them. Personal responsibility is a relic of the past.

I will only do it if they get gender studies degrees

Already told mine unless you get a scholarship
we had FL pre-paid for our daughter(no pics,) but when she graduated HS(valedictorian,) she really wanted to go to an expensive Ivy League type school, I bought her a catalogue of grants/scholarships and told her she would have to make up the difference, she busted arse, had three jobs during college(all for the school,) that paid her money and paid towards school, when she graduated she owed $16k(school was about $50k/yr.) I told her as a graduation present we would pick that up, I've told her that accomplishing that was as valuable a lesson as anything she learned in any classroom

Negative. I would have a chat discussing their options. Community college, paying as you go, and part time/ full time attendance would. e the topic. If the kids aren’t completely entitled a-holes, they would understand.

But now, he said, even though he makes a livable salary in healthcare sales, his retirement could very likely be pushed off because he chose to take on debt to prioritize his kids' futures.
You all realize that there was an ulterior motive when BHO set-up the federal government to back student loans?

Pay for half for each kid, then have the kids pay the other half. That’s what my parents did

Have them join the National Guard or Reserves.

You're an adult, the loan goes on your name. I may help you out shortly after you graduate if you're trying to get your footing and starting in your career. But at the end of the day, the loan is your responsibility, not mine.

That parents plus has an interest rate that's dang near loan shark levels.
It's 500 basis points higher than the 10yr US treasury yield.
Not very smart

I only have one kid... so it wouldn't be nearly as burdening, but still no. We have a college savings plan set up for him, but after that he'll be on his own for the most part.

Nope..... After high school they were on their own.... They were damn lucky to be fed & supported for 18 years. There it is kiddos..... Go get it... The world is yours
