WASHINGTON (AP) -- Medicare will run out of money sooner than expected, and Social Security's financial problems can't be ignored either, the government said Tuesday in a sobering checkup on programs vital to the middle class.

The report from program trustees says Medicare will become insolvent in 2026 — three years earlier than previously forecast. Its giant trust fund for inpatient care won't be able to fully cover projected medical bills starting at that point.

Any way we'll be able to get out of this mess?

Obamacare is here to stay. We will fund it instead.

Did social security still run out in 2001?

Maybe an actually functioning universal health care system unlike the hot pile of garbage we're currently working with could help.

So you're seeking total bankruptcy instead of the pending insolvency? Good plan.

They’ll just print more fricking money. Inflation is out of control. The hidden tax that nobody cares or notices.

Medicare isn't the problem. Medicaid is the issue. Quit giving shite to people that don't pay unless they are destitute.

Almost 74 million people are enrolled on medicaid or CHIP.

And I’ll raise you the BROKE arse rest of the first world with catastrophic levels of unfunded liabilities that depends entirely on the USA for military protection, rations health care, is horribly inefficient, that doesn’t incentivize medical research or pharmaceutical investment and that lets State bureaucrats decide who lives and dies.

Please show me an example of another country with the same population as us that has successful universal healthcare.

ETA: Canada’s population is about the same as the entire population of the state of California
