It's imagined.
It’s not, because matriculation stats for med schools are actually published by aamc. There is a much higher bar for white and Asian students. Has been for a long time now.
You can look them up yourself without paying anything. You can’t see them broken down by school, but you can see them for all schools. It’s pretty alarming.

Also a female student from LSU with a 4.0 was told she may not get in Med school due the diversity requirements.
The irony of a female complaining about someone getting preferential treatment because of a characteristic they were born with is rich.

To play devil's advocate here.
If standards were lowered for them to get in med school, then chances are they would end up failing out anyways.
So if they persevered through med school, completing every class to satisfactory standard, passed every test, certification, etc to officially be classified as a doctor.
Then at that point I would say they are qualified, no matter what their undergrad gpa was.

Except now those Step exams that are required to pass to become licensed and even basic courses such as anatomy and physiology are now in the cross hairs because POC were failing them, at a higher clip too.

Track record matters more than med school admission. I don't care what my doctor scored on his MCAT when he was 22 years old. If he's batting 1.000 on open heart surgeries then I trust him.
Yea but do you want to be in his first 1,000 surgeries before we figure out what his batting average is?
You act like people are keeping track of all their surgical outcomes and you can just look these stats up like a NFL quarterback

It’s alright muh dragon z think diversity, even if you aren’t qualified, is our strength.

don’t understand why they’re fricking around with something as serious as medicine to promote diversity.
Let's start with the presupposition that standardized testing is racist/sexist, as well as academic classroom teaching.
If that were in fact the case, then, at least in their minds, these candidates are as intelligent and qualified...
If that's the case, why not let any score in? Are you saying standardized tests are just a little racist?

I mean, you still have to match to a residency.

because, who doesn't want a doctor who needed lower standards just to get into med school working on them?

You want to talk about believing in dragons and fairy tales?
How the hell is standardized testing racist/sexist?
I think sexist is the craziest claim. You are going to need some serious explanation my dude

The residencies are doing the same thing as the med schools. And the hospital systems need diversity as well. So no, there isn’t a stop gap.

You don’t think residency programs use similar principles? My program wasn’t diverse enough and so we went hard for a kid from an HBCU. He was a disaster of a resident. I never heard any attending say anything bad about a resident except for our ex navy seal attending who just looked at me one day on a shift we were all working together and goes, “that guy’s fricking terrible.”

If the standards to actually satisfactory pass medical school, and the licensing requirements are being lowered, then I definitely have a problem with that.

“Black students are not admitted into competitive residencies at the same rate as whites because their average Step One test scores are a standard deviation below those of whites. Step One has already been modified to try to shrink that gap; it now includes nonscience components such as “communication and interpersonal skills.” But the standard deviation in scores has persisted. In the world of antiracism, that persistence means only one thing: the test is to blame. It is Step One that, in the language of antiracism, “disadvantages” underrepresented minorities, not any lesser degree of medical knowledge.”

The last lsu class let in a tranny who bragged on social media about having an MCAT score in the bottom 50%.

Too good to be true. Fact.

Admissions are down I assume?
Or is this minority related?
I could see admissions down. Pay is down for many physicians, Medicaid reimbursements are killing them.

Hard to trust someone who spent so much time in education these days. I’m probably more qualified than most to know what is wrong with me. Hell some doctors ask you what is wrong then accuse of self diagnosing lol.
