Ok? Why weren’t they extended?
I am going to answer this with a question, why were they even put in place to begin with when as you say inflation hadn't got bad yet?
quote:
The economy has changed dramatically and it’s beyond retarded to just point and say “oh, they expired” as if this Congress and Administration were/are powerless to do anything about that expiration.
Yes, why were they not just made permanent? Why were they set to expire January 2026?

People are getting hurt by this dumbass shite.
I agree Obamacare was designed to fail.

non-partisan analyses
We don’t need non-partisan analysis. We can look at EVERY OTHER INDUSTRIALIZED NATION ON EARTH to understand the impacts of government run healthcare. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, we can look at Medicare and the VA.

Just get a high deductible plan for your boy. Specific for medical emergencies.
Oh wait, they got rid of them with the passing of the affordable care act.
Elections have consequences.

I’m told affordability is a democratic hoax whatever that means.

I don't know what they have planned as far as insurance companies go.
Why I don't support medicaid for all or single payer?
Easy. The country is in nearly 40 trillion in debt and taxes would have to be increased for the program. That is 100% what Dems would do
2. We have concrete evidence that wait times in Canada and the UK are very long. Months. Even if you have a disease that is killing you. What's the population of those countries compared to the US?
3. We already have a shortage of doctors and care providers such as NPs. If those professions are federalized, not only would the shortage increase, they then become federal employees, likely earning capped federal wages which comes with an entire host of problems. Not to mention, anything ran by the government is wildly inefficient.
4. it would be a complete disaster

Respectfully, this is too simplistic a view. Many of the cost saving measures other nations employ would be political non starters here. For example, PPO plans, which don’t require a referral to see a specialist, are not the norm in any other nation. Other western nations more strictly control the amount of specialist visits per citizen.
In America, HMO plans, which tried to cut down on specialist visits, were very unpopular and now are rarely offered

That is what he should have been paying. He wasn't because of subsides put on during the Covid scam.
How in the hell does it make sense that my 21 year old should cost more than my policy at 54?
We both have individual BCBS plans with fairly high deductibles.
Why did his double and mine only went up 20%? There’s no rhyme or reason to any of this shite.

I mean, have you tried to schedule a physical or an appointment with a specialist lately? It’s ridiculous here, too.
I don’t disagree it’s a choice between two evils. No system is perfect. I do know that the status quo isn’t working, nor was it prior to Obamacare.
People’s lives shouldn’t be ruined by becoming sick. A family shouldn’t have to burn through their life savings because a 63yo has a heart attack. Being diagnosed with a disease shouldn’t lead to bankruptcy on top of the pain of being sick. It’s just not right and shouldn’t be happening in the richest country on earth.

A lot of people making political comments that clearly don’t know what the frick they’re talking about.
frick paying for illegal aliens healthcare and frick any person that suggests I should do that.

Trump, being made aware of the issue after the fact and already facing criticism over affordability, has commented that the subsidies should be continued. There’s been no action on that front yet. I imagine something will be done because a lot of people are starting to realize how bad their pocketbooks will be hurt by that provision in the BBB.
Weren’t those subsidies retiring no matter what regardless of the BBB?

You’re gonna see more people self insure.
It doesn’t make any sense for a young couple in their 30s, assuming they have to buy on the market, would have an insurance plan.
You’re talking about $24k a year in premiums and then typically a high as frick deductible and OOP maximum. At a certain point it’s going to stop making sense to people.

It’s not ideal here.
But not even remotely as ridiculous as overseas.
Here it could be weeks, there it could be years.
The scenarios are not remotely the same.

K.
Respectfully, it seems you’re arguing for the status quo which is a proven failure. At least I’m offering an alternative which *could* be an improvement.
Just like your party….bitch, bitch, fingerpoint, point more fingers, offer zero solutions. Hell, they aren’t even serving up ideas.

That’s blatantly false. I’m sure there are horror stories on line ir circulating on social media but you and I both know that no citizenry would put up with that being standard operations.

Obamacare made things exponentially worse for responsible individuals.

Sorry, but I'm over subsidizing other people's insurance plans.
