My primary card with a fee has some really great benefits for travel and access to a lot of Lounges… but not The Club. Since we are traveling more than normal this year we got it basically just for that in case we have issues like this at MSY

The line problem is basically on Monday mornings only with everyone returning home.. it’s not like that the rest of the week.

Seems like the trend is things get progressively worse Friday-Monday and then Tuesday-Thursday are fine.

Just goes to show you that it doesn’t take much to sit there and put an ID in a machine and wait for it to say Go or No Go.
Almost every TSA worker could be replaced by AI. Facial scans and ID checks should be done by machines that don’t need to be paid and won’t strike!

Are you trying to tell me there’s less people at MSY at 6am on a Tuesday than Sunday afternoon?????

Same thing at Phoenix airport on Saturday.

Good to know the massive line I waited in the parking garage for hours in yesterday was all just a dream

Guess you didn’t get the memo Sunday and Monday are always the worst days

Shaniqua decided to show up for work today. Thank you for keeping us safe from Osama.
I will never understand why TSA agents are criticized for calling out. Only a fool works for free. And with those salaries, not like these people are building rainy day funds. Can't think of a worse job to put your trust in.

Did you have to show your papers?

I am at the airport dicking around on tiger droppings for that very reason. Showed up two hours early, got some emailing done, now seeing what the brain trust is up to. It has been a rewarding 15 minutes as usual...

They're planning a big callout this weekend to coincide with the No Kings protests planned for the weekend. My brother-in-law works in risk management and covers the airport for various insurance companies. The word is out about this weekend and next.

It's fake news. Maybe you just dreamed it. It was all your fault in this conspiracy that you arranged with the media to screw the OP.

Point being, they could have anyone (or self service machines for that matter, doing the ID thing with one agent to handle rejections.
Same goes for the people that tell you to walk through the machine, yell at the people that can't remember to empty their pockets even though you hear it a dozen times as you are putting your bag on the conveyor, the person pushing the bag through.
In regard to the security lines, the only "trained TSA agents" we really need are the ones looking through the x-ray machine results. Let the non-TSA people handle the other stuff.

It isn't working for free. They will still get paid for it

What you don't get is that the tsa had a staged sick out Sunday.
That's why lines were long.

I'm a regular MSY Club visitor. Warning you, the shutdown has affected how busy the club is and added substantial wait times to get in.
Generally, there was never a waitlist to get in before 9 am any day of the week. Often there would be a 10-15 minute waitlist on weekdays between 10am and 3pm, and hit or miss if there was a wait after 3 or 4. Until last week longest I waited to get into the club was maybe 20 minutes with 2 people, and 15 minutes when solo.
Past 2 weeks, hearing its been slammed with a waitlist by 7/7:30 am because everyone is getting there 2 or 3 hours before their flights. Middle of last week it was an estimated 100-120 min wait for 2 at 3:30 pm. Ended up 80 minutes before I received text but already on plane.
You can pre-book a spot 3-5 days out for $9 on the PP app. Might be worth doing that if you know you are traveling and want a guaranteed seat. Just letting you know.

It will be interesting if this leads to any refinements in operations moving forward. A smart and efficient government would be watching this and hiring “non-skilled” workers to fill those gaps. You really don’t need a TSA Agent checking people’s boarding passes to enter the Pre Check line.
Hahahaha. Who am I kidding? Nothing will change.

Try telling a landlord you're not living on his property for free...he'll still get paid.
