I think both proposed locations are horrible. A better option might be in the power center by the soccer and baseball fields to make it all one huge sports complex.
as much as LC residents are bitching, Sulphur should swoop in and put it by all their baseball fields.

so we have had to play some tournaments in places worse than NLC and what happens is you go play there and immediately leave. Where if you play in a good location, you tend to stay as near as possible to the fields and you eat at restaurants around there. So even if they do build it in NLC it wont really help.
example when we play at oak villa in BR, we cant leave the area fast enough and its not even that bad since the Amazon warehouse was built where the old mall was. but we dont stay near there nor go eat near there, would be the same for North LC
in the end all the bitching from their citizens and the city council doesnt matter. The property owner wants double what its worth, by law, they cant buy the property
of course they are already claiming...certain people own the appraisal company and made sure it didnt appraise for the right amount to kill the project in the area and all kinds of other things

Some comments on the KPLC articles are already calling the mayor "Uncle Tom" for wanting it downtown vs Goosport

oh yea, same people claiming nic hunter bought all kinds of property and current mayor is in with him or getting a kick back
low iq people going to low iq
but lets say they do build it and it does revitalize that area to the point Moss bluff starts creeping into that area.....and it drives housing cost up and drives people out....
same people clamoring for it will be the same ones in 15 years bitching because they are priced out, regentrification is terrible, racist are forcing them out their homes etc.

Yep
Thankfully, for Moss Bluff, they have plenty of land to keep moving North and don't have to worry about taking over Goosport

i hate to say it but it has forced the city into a no win situation. and when you talk about being in a metro area that is 67% white but the actual city is 43% black...it puts them in a bad spot.

Yes the optics are bad but the statistics don't lie and show a different reality.
Lake Charles has spent more money in North Lake Charles since 2017 than in any other part of the city
So for people to claim that NLC doesn't get a fair shake is just bullshite and victim mentality.
Outside of gas stations, fast food, etc no business ever survives that part of town. The biggest private investment in that area in a decade is the New Look Furniture rebuild.
NLC should stop relying on subsidies and do more to attract private businesses to revitalize the area
Lake Chares officials provide list of capital investments made in each district since 2017

yep but they wont. Same thing happened with Lake charles boston. The school board was willing to negotiate and keep it open even though they were spending significantly more per stupid. All they ask from that "task force" trying to keep it open is that truancy laws be enforced and parents held accountable....was a non starter. So they voted to close it.

that wont happen because same people are in the comments saying there isnt crime there....they dont want to acknowledge and force change. Cant help them.

North Lake Charles will improve once it's citizens start acting like they care about their own neighborhood. If they don't care, don't expect outsiders to
