If they were driving for a long time, Gasser should indeed be charged with something. It sounds like he most certainly had a chance to call the authorities and instead chose to kill McKnight when the opportunity came.

McKnight is a fricking idiot too. Too bad both couldn't have died if they put anyone else in harms way at all.

Dude might have been just trying to make it home or something and JM chased him. I have been in a similar situation and pulled my gun out of my console just in case.

I agree about calling the cops but in his defense, police around/in NOLA aren't known for being Johnny on the spot.

I know it's contrary to what is learned in the first five minutes of gun safety class. But I would rather brandish and point the weapon and give the other person a chance to flee before firing.

I know people will say a gun is a tool used for defense, and you shoot to kill. But I would rather not have blood on my hands.

Had I been Gasser, I would brandish then shoot if he made an attempt to reach or didn't flee. If I brandish and he follows me, then I am fleeing to the nearest police station while on the phone with 9/11.

The call likely should have been made well before the incident

Yes, if you had ample opportunity to call the authorities... Otherwise your just taking the law into your own hands when you had absolutely no reason to

did you miss the part where this all started in orleans parish and they had just crossed into JP? How do you know that he didnt call the cops? How do you know he didnt feel his life was in danger until JM boxed him in at the red light and exited his vehicle and approached Gassers passenger side window?

unfortunately. Someone say a white man kill a black man and decided the reason had to be race, so they invented a narrative to fit their assumption. Same thing many here including myself have done since getting snippets of news.
We just talked about it on a forum, they lied to police and media.

Please explain why I'm dumb for thinking Gasser had other options, before the intersection incident?

I don't know the distance traveled, but I'm sure there are intersection cameras that could show that.

If there was no aggressive moves by McKnight leading up to this, then yes Gasser is 100% justified

Or that in trying to get away, his phone fro on the floor and he couldn't reach it, or the battery was dead, or that NOPD 911 operator told him to keep driving or never answered

He may have called the cop. I got in a fender bender in Algiers years ago and it took four hours to get an officer. Four. It was like 6pm when the cop showed up and the wreck happened before the bridge had any traffic at all. This was when the tolls were in place as well.

Any wreck I did not cause in NOLA, I will just get the other guys info and let insurance deal with it.
I have already made a claim that way and progressive doesn't care, they know NOPD response time is shitty.

JPSO is lightyears ahead.

Road rage is a hell of a thing and can get the best of anyone. My grandfather was a kind man. Never drank, smoked and went to church every Sunday. One day almost 20 years ago now he had an incident. Guy just about ran him off the road on the interstate and he followed him off an exit into an Eckerxd parking lot. Got out and tried killing the man with a Bowie knife he carried around in his old Dodge.

I don't know what happened here but road rage is scary shite. RIP Joe and hopefully this situation can be resolved.
