I will never understand why it is the norm to be late for press conferences. In every other line of business it is extremely unprofessional.
Someone cracked a joke about the NAACP presser being late but also expected. I guess that jokester doesn't have anything witty for JPSO's punctuality.

If McKnight verbally threatened severe harm or death to Gasser before getting out of his car, Gasser has the right to defend himself with deadly force while McKnight is approaching the vehicle.
If Gasser can make the case that he had a reasonable fear for his life AND he was in imminent danger AND that the killing was necessary to save himself from that danger, sure.
A few verbal threats and a guy getting out of his vehicle aren't enough on their own.

Your point? In every other form of business being late is considered extremely unprofessional. Press conferences and doctors appointments seem to be allowed to not give a frick
It isn't true for just those two, but again, they hold all the power.
Like the DMV taking forever, what are you going do.

So just announce a later start time?

Being 12+ minutes late on a press conference that is 4+ hours late itself is essentially a big frick you to the public.

Are we already going with that narrative? Just bc it doesn't fit the narrative you want doesn't mean it's bs just FYI

Normand is a known dickhead but he's often applauded for it.

Gasser can only use deadly force if he is acting in self defense and his life is in imminent danger, and you'll have a hard time convincing people that is the case when you're in a vehicle and McKnight is just walking towards you.
Not true, based on your own previous quote of the law. Read the law that you posted.
quote:
When committed in self-defense by one who reasonably believes that he is in imminent danger of losing his life or receiving great bodily harm and that the killing is necessary to save himself from that danger.
It's not if his life is in imminent danger If it's he reasonably believes it. He may not in fact be in any imminent danger. A guy can be aiming a toy gun at you. Are you in imminent danger? No. Is it reasonable to believe that you were at the time? Very possibly.

I'm just stating that "That's a fact" is not true because of the circumstances that you have just agreed on.

Agree. Calling guy an a-hole and getting out of your car won't warrant being shot.

Yes, this is pretty pathetic.

1:18pm no presser yet.
isn't 15 minutes the rule at LSU to bolt from class if the teacher doesn't show up?

I am not surprised by this from Newell at all.

This is getting ridiculous. It's going to piss off people even more if they don't drop some bombshell here one way or the other.

And then there are people LAUGHING in the background. Come on people, a person was KILLED and regardless if there are charges or not, be respectful.
Start on time and stop the stupid laughing!

The key word is reasonable and imminent. This entire line of conversation started when someone suggested Gasser could shoot McKnight if he was scared when McKnight got out of the car. That isn't nearly enough to hit the criteria for a justifiable homicide.
