Having owned both, I would never buy another Mazda. The tail lights were melting in my Mazda CX-7, so I brought it back to the dealership because it was under warranty and they basically told me 'tough sh&t'. They made no effort to help me, so I traded it in a week later. It randomly wouldn't start sometimes, too. Total POS.
Toyota is far superior to a Mazda on so many levels.

Yup. I bought a real, made-in-Japan car in 2009 and haven't driven anything else since. They are a cut above, and that includes the German brands.

4Runner, Tacoma, Sequoia are 3 of the most bulletproof vehicles on the planet and neither Honda or Mazda make anything equivalent.

That said, my favorite commuter car of all time was a Mazda 626. Loved that car.

The Honda Civic is the Tacoma of cars.

Mazda is superior to those vehicles IMO. Honda has really slipped. Toyotas have never appealed to me, at all. It's the brand for people who say "I really don't care about cars."
This

Except exactly and completely the opposite.

Mazda is OK but clearly behind Toyota & Honda (& Subaru, fwiw).

The new CX-90 is what BMW used to be before they forgot how to make cars last. Mazda did an excellent job and they deserve to be taken seriously.

Rear wheel drive. Straight six.

Not even Acura or Lexus could be bothered to do that for their family crossovers.

To add on to this...I think when people complain about this with Toyota automobiles they don't realize it is a corporate strategy of theirs.

Mazda is partly owned by Ford (or they used to be), so take that for what it's worth (hint: and it's a lot).

Mazda's rep is up there with Toyota and Honda now, and they do tend to handle better.

My wife wanted a Honda CR-V or a Mazda CX-5. Review and reliability wise, they were a toss up. The CX-5 handled a lot better, so it was stiffer. The wife picked the CR-V because it "road better". I would have been satisfied with either for slightly different reasons.

Hondas,Mazda, and Toyota to a lesser extent are like most other makes now-- they squeeze horsepower out of tiny engines with gasoline direct inject fuel systems and turbos to get a couple more MPG. With all that heat and pressure, they're not going to last forever like the previous generations.

No maker matches Toyota on quality. They don't put out anything until they test it to death, and then they go with it for years and refine and refine.

I've owned a Mazda, and it was the most worry-free car I've ever had. I've also owned a couple Hondas, but never a Toyota.

The Mazda6 is the best pound for pound sedan you can buy. They just don't make a 6 speed anymore, which is beyond stupid.

One major edit: Mazda's dealership network is an absolute joke. Your best bet if you want a Mazda is to find a larger dealer network that also has a Mazda outlet. You have some cats that have a Mazda dealership that would never have another brand, and it shows. Hyundai has dealt with this, as well.

So they don't. Shows I haven't been in the market in a sec.

Go check out a Mazda CX 90 with the turbo inline 6. We got a large aSUV but if we were in the market for midsize, it beats the others.
