Mayor LaToya Cantrell is planning to convene a new violence reduction task force as an unrelenting tide of gun violence continues to plague New Orleans at the start of the new year.
According to a draft executive order, Cantrell is preparing to create a 14-member group that includes interim Superintendent Michelle Woodfork of the New Orleans Police Department, District Attorney Jason Williams, the heads of several city departments, Cantrell administration appointees and other leaders of the city's criminal-justice system.
They will be tasked with a broad mandate to recommend policy and legislative actions at all levels of government.
quote:
“The violent crime reduction task force shall be responsible for developing strategies coordinated amongst all government and community stakeholders for the prevention of violent crime, the apprehension of violent offenders, and (to) ensure comprehensive wraparound services (are) provided to those impacted by incidents of violence,” the draft order states.
The draft order does not specify a time frame or meeting schedule of the task force. It also does not lay out a specific report or work product. However, the task force will be required to brief the mayor, engage City Council members and update the public “as necessary,” according to the draft document.

Well, I feel safer already.

She must have an excellent "task force" in place shielding her from the criticism online. How can she even consider showing up in public with the indisputable ridicule that goes on daily. Even Sleepy Joe isn't that embarrassing. (well....)

These people are all part of the problem and should already be “tackling crime.” How are they going to now solve it?

Interested to see if they do anything with the car break ins considering the dindus are almost always carrying a firearm at the ready during the raids

They’re just talking tough to get some frustrated citizens and media off their back.
The Mayor and task force are defund the policers true and true. Expect no fix.

Oh, like the police. What about the marshmallow judges and overcrowded prison system to house all of the degenerates? As usual, NOTHING but talk.

Meetings of the task force will take place at only the finest restaurants that France has to offer

This new task force will be much more effective than the last new task force she created to fix this problem. The NEW police chief makes this task force brand new!

Glad she is protecting herself from catching the uglies.
