It probably has to do with the fact they made an announcement they were having a parade before going through the proper channels to get approval.
Maybe she is using them as an example that groups can't just assume they can have a parade whenever they want and the city resources will be available for them at any time.

Did you not read where I said she was probably being diplomatic talking about the strain on resources? In other words,she probably wanted to come out and say this is a stupid-arse idea to try and have a parade in the summer and expect people to come out and bake for a few hours, but she was nice and acted like it was a security resource issue so nobody's feelings were hurt.

Not really shocking that Nyx just assumed they would be allowed to do whatever they want to do. Some of these MG captains have incredible egos.
Maybe this will take Nyx down a peg.
But for Cantrell to say it's hurricane season is pretty stupid. If you don't think summer parades are a good idea, then just come out and say it. To think that a single parade on a relatively short route is going to be something NOPD can't handle is an absolute embarrasment to them. We all know If a storm was close they would just cancel the parade and Nyx would have to accept that risk.
I wonder how many other parades were interested in doing something similar. The city has random arse parades / marches all year long. Now, if 15 krewes wanted to do something, i can see that would need some work... but again to say "it's hurricane season" is stupid and insulting.
Maybe it's the fact that Cantrell doesn't really have experience running anything (she was a community organizer) but she seems to have a lot of these unforced errors. Maybe she needs a new PR flack.

If you would have told me that some unnamed krewe had come up with the retarded idea to throw a parade in mid-July, and announced this parade without getting permission from the NOPD or the mayor first, then asked me who, it would've taken me about a nanosecond to come up with Nyx
