Imagine all the ladders she could have stolen this time around.

She really missed a golden opportunity

Those events have been in place for years and people come down here specifically for those events giving an extra boost to the economy. A summer parade just isn't a good idea. She was probably just trying to be diplomatic by talking about it being a strain on resources.

Don’t give me that shite. NOPD is the best in the world at crowd control

The city threw a Super Bowl parade together in 2 days in which they estimated for 800k attended.

I’m sure one little Nyx parade can be achieved with no strain.

I mean honestly, I wouldn’t have gone because it was the same weekend as the Tarpon Rodeo, but don’t use hurricane season as the excuse. That’s week

Can’t lie. I supported her on this. The ladder people jumped the shark this year when I saw a group who erected the ladders and then affixed full sheets of plywood across the front faces of the ladders so you couldn’t pass between their ladders or stand behind them. They created a 1/4 block long wall. That shite was unacceptable.

That’s the thing. The ladders are a great tradition for kids to be able to enjoy the parade. Then trashy frickers ruined it for everyone by building monuments for their benefit and not for the children.

What is their benefit from it? Most parents I see are a good bit behind the ladders drinking together.

Yeah it’s gotten out of hand, I will agree with you on that.

It’s mostly Westbank and East Jefferson trash.

Nyx just sent out an email saying that they had no idea she wouldnt issue the permit, they announced the parade based on positive talks with the mayors office. and that all permits are issued just 2 weeks before the event. The email contained absolutely nothing regarding returning money.

but it did say "we still have 2 parties planned for that day that we just might have anyway"

aka

"we are keeping your money and claiming that all the funds will go to the party instead of the parade"

How is Essence Fest and Decadence Fest during Hurricane season not a strain on city resources but one parade is??
Those 2 events bring lots of people from out of town during holiday weekends. So there’s an economic benefit.

I doubt that having one Mardi Grad parade during hot arse July is going to be a reason tourists come to town. And I doubt many locals are going to want to stand on a parade route for a few hours in July heat and humidity. Poorly attended parade and not a tourist draw, so no economic benefit for the city to go through the trouble of police overtime and logistics of shutting down roads, staging barricades, and lining up clean up crews.
