So did they announce this shite without running it past the mayor, first?

They had to apply for a permit and I guess with all the buzz it was getting she thought it was necessary to release a statement. Makes sense, no reason to shut down half the city for one hot arse night. There’s a few half way to Mardi Gras parade block parties in other neighborhoods of the city if you want to enjoy something like this.

More people come to nola for a preseason Saints game in August than would go to this parade.

Well you have to shut down streets. Call in extra detail on top of the police we already have our patrolling. I guess you can do something like this that goes down Poydras from the river to the Dome.
