I think I can speak for the white race when I say that Honey BooBoo was an incredibly embarrassing situation for all of us.

While I agree that this might help the problem there is so many things wrong with this idea I do know where to begin.

1. So our city should segregate its police department to serve "Black" areas but that is not segregation?

2. Blacks have been wanting equal treatment for years and the only equal treatment is to segregate them with only their race? Seems very counter productive to me.

3. Black officers are the only officers who are fair to black people?

4. Are black officers fair to white people?

5. Are white officers automatically racist pigs if they kill a black person while working?

I'm still trying to figure out why race is even involved in the BR shooting. The Cops use of deadly force? Sure, I get that and it should be looked into but race? Why just because the cops were white and victim was black? Not enough for me to say race had anything to do with this killing.

We need to take solidarity as a nation on the....matter.....of Honey Boo Boo. Our whole nation to an L on that one. White people were embarrassed. Black people were embarrassed. Asians covered their heads in shame. Even our pets were mortified

Unfortunately, that's not the solution either. It really is a damned if you do, damned if you don't.

People in those neighborhoods hate the police and many fear them. They then complain when the police don't show up when they actually need them.

There's usually isn't a racial motive from the situations I've cared to take notice of.

It's so damn difficult to fight a narrative, though.

I'd hate to be a white cop accosting a black individual for any reason these days. Crying shame that even if the black person is in the wrong, they'll get the benefit of the doubt in the public eye. How the hell are you supposed to do your job?

Here's a noble idea. Quit being a piece of shite criminal. It will drastically reduce your odds of getting shot to death.

I said this same thing. We need to patrol our own communities.

Most of the police force in BR doesnt even live in EBR.

That's ridiculous no one is saying that. However, it's quite obvious that a certain large percentage of the population dissed trusts and dislikes white police officer's

No, they "dissed trusts" police officers period.

But that's the narrative on the news.

Black guy on The Kelly File last night said cops should know the people in area's they serve.....individually.

Bottom line, until we get respect back in America (for authority), this will only get worse.

Because of slavery man. Institutionalized oppression through the years has set them up for failure. It is certainly not due to a lack of accountability or personal responsibility. Me? I blame the statues in New Orleans for all of it.

Nope and here's why most cops who shoot black people are themselves black. Cops shoot more white people than blacks according to the FBI. The press like to continually push a racist motive because of the color of the cops. Ever notice cops shooting white people or any other race never makes national news or if so, is a blip on the radar?

I've seen instances of a black cop shooting a black perp and the black community yells racism.

They would be called "Toms".

No. It was tried for about 100 years. Separate but equal. The black community didn't like it.

It really is a serious problem. It's no secret that police have a harder job to do in poorer neighborhoods. Many times they are relying on intincts and begin profiling based on their experience.

In much of our country poorer and higher crime areas go hand in hand. It's based on socioeconomics and unfortunately these areas, especially in Baton Rouge, are largely "black" neighborhoods.

So, are people in these areas watched more closely because they are black or is it because they fit the demographic of the type of person more likely to be involved in a crime?

Officer that work these areas know they are under a microscope. I wouldn't want that job for many reasons.

That was generally the status quo in much of the south at one time. If the crime stayed within the black community, law enforcement generally did not get involved, when white people were involved, they generally came down hard on the black person involved, regardless of the facts.

That is one of the roots of the general distrust in the black community and it colors the perspective of many people in that community, regardless of whether they ever experienced it themselves.

they do, and many get the f out of dodge and go into a Muni, where they make more cash and deal with lilly white arse people, who cry about getting a $10 ticket.

And a few in St.Louis who were trying to clean up the neighborhoods they patrolled and lived in were shot, one, literally execution style.

I think every patrol car in those areas should have one of those colorblind German Shepard take-down dogs in the back seat. The make bad guys beg you to take them to jail.
