This. Iceman wanted the "kill" even though Mav was in better position. He pulled off at the last second, and the jet wash caused Mav/Goose's plane to go into a flat spin.
For physics reasons I don't quite grasp but experts have said is remotely possible, the spin kept the canopy down a spilt second too long, so that when they ejected Goose was slammed into it and broke his neck.

I don't know...I think Goose would be better off than Maverick today. Of course, she went down that lesbian path later--probably got tired of Maverick's shite. Wait...this would make a good plotline for the sequel.

The sequel, like most sequels that are done 30 years later.. Will probably blow. I really hope it doesn't, but I am not expecting it to be good..
