He was convicted of negligent homicide. He was asked by other members to tone the hazing down, he didn't. He is over 21 and should understand the consequences of asking a pledge to chug everclear for ten seconds. He is old enough to understand the consequences of asking the kid to take 10 to 12 chugs of everclear over the course of the bible study.

He ignored that and hazed the shite out of someone who he openly didnt like. His frat bros were even concerned with the health of the pledges at the bible study. They poured some of the everclear down the sink and replaced it with water. They knew the hazing was going to far.

This isn't even bringing into account the obstruction of justice charge by deleting his cell phone files minutes after a warrant was issued.

I have a hard time feeling bad for a frat that has a hazing event in this day and age. And I have a hard time feeling bad for Naquin who took the hazing to far.

This can be true and still get a negligent homicide conviction. Max Gruver is dead because he made the choice to keep drinking, but the actions of Naquin and the entire "bible study" idea as a whole is the reason why he made his choice. Gruver would still be alive today if he had made a better choice, but its also fair to say he wold likely be alive today if not for the actions of Naquin.

I often think back on my college days and cant help but wonder what it would have been like to be accepted into a Fraternity instead of being a Division 1 Athlete on scholarship.

anyway, naquin does come off as a try too hard. Took his role in a nerd frat too seriously
