621/airline
73/airline
and quite a few others see serious wrecks all the time. maybe dropping the limit to 45 won't completely stop that but, i might save a few lives.

I'm gonna go with 45.8% make.

How often, as a percentage, will I “make the green light” without waiting for the red light in a 4 week period?

Again, how many times will I get to work without stopping until I arrive at the job site in a 4 week period?

if you're on the road, your whole goal is to play and win the "make the light" game. MOVE.

And the red light is on for how long
It would seem that it would be red for roughly 1 min assuming both streets (main and cross) have same timing, there are no turn signals/ alternating periods of green, and the lights don't all turn red for any delayed period of time.
While the direction the OP is traveling is green (55 sec) or yellow (5 Sec) the opposing cross street is red and likely vice versa.

One’s a dime, the other is a nickel.

Well then it's pretty easy. Based on that, the answer to his question
Well the odds of you making a greenlight any given day is about 45.83%.
4 week period isn't a big enough statistical sample, though. So Idk why you used that qualifier.
But in a twenty day period, you'd expect to go straight through 9 times. But that doesn't mean that's what's going to happen.

I don't think any of those are valid assumptions. On a major street/highway (60 mph speed limit), you can be certain that the highway has a much larger split allocation than the side streets and left turns. There are more than likely 2 left turns from the main street and probably the side street too. There is probably somewhere around 6-10 seconds of all red time every cycle.

If I drive 1 hour a minute it will take me 5.08 minutes to get to work. frick those lights.

My peeve is folks looking for a reason not to go. Instead of looking to go....

Subtle brag.

quote:Yeah the randomness of when you leave, travel time being higher than light cycle, randomness on what you'd consider START time for the first light pretty much reduce it to a green light divided by cycle problem
So 55/120?

Red means stop. I hate people like you.
People making unprotected left turns, though, need to be put into a burlap sack with their kids and thrown in the river.
