Knowing what we know now I hope we postpone Mardi Gras until bollards are installed a block off of the entire route.

Just a target waiting to happen.

Idk but maybe knowing Muslims like to use cars to kill people, the city should park a big enough car to protect the thousands people they knew would be walking up and down bourbon on new years

They clearly know it’s a threat. Why half arse it?

I am not asking much.

Should NO block off every street/sidewalk that an evil person could drive down an kill and injure multiple people on New Years Eve? It happened on Bourbon St. last night but could have happened other places.

They literally do block bourbon street and are in the process of reinvesting in that expensive endeavor.

Is your stance that they should roll back that plan?

I'd love to see everyone bump the threads they posted last month warning about this risk, since it was so obvious and foreseeable

There is no way to prevent all these things from happening. If someone is determined to kill people, they will find a target.
I could name easier targets with a truck than this one that would’ve been worse.
This could have be devastating if he did this while it was packed and not 3am.

No, my stance is that the government will never be able to stop the actions of crazy people. We have laws/protections against …people still murder, people still steal, people still drive drunk. Thinking a few bollards on Bourbon St is going to stop a crazy person on a mission to kill people is going to prevent it, well…

That's all I'm bitching about as well.

They admitted it was a threat and had less protection. fricking stupid.

because why the hell would anyone want to hurt people in New Orleans - what is the point? New Orleans has nothing to offer except a good time.

You can’t live life preparing for the next Muslim attack. If he would’ve run over people on canal st what would you say then? Close down Canal St.??

In England, where most people cannot get guns - terrorists attack with knives and acid - how can you prevent that?

The lady I just saw interviewed, the NOLA council president did a fine job with her interview.

I’m not even kidding when I say that was the best interview by a public official in that city in at least 2 decades.

That's what many on here seem to believe.

I guess we should just give up and not attempt protect ourselves.

The stupid take is thinking government can predict and prevent crazy people from killing people.

They can and do, all over the country, prevent cars from driving on sidewalks where large gatherings are happening such as NYE in NO limiting carnage.

The chief of police looks like an 80 year old grandmother and the mayor is essentially retarded so what would you expect
