Great...Now potato Joe will say it's too dangerous to use NG for assault appliances.

I was wrong. I'm thinking of the big Massachusetts fire which was Columbia Gas. It was actually over 100 structures and like 25 deaths.

You’re right, that was Columbia. I get all those Uber unionized ones confused and I’ve purged my brain of as much of all that shite as I could when I left my brief stint in the industry.

It would be months before the utility would let it quietly slip if it was part of their system. Behind the meter or something else and they’ll make sure everyone knows I 5 minutes.

One of the articles stated that authorities had ruled out a gas leak but that has since been retracted.

This was the only other information I could find:

“Officials confirmed to reporters that Rustic Ridge Estates is surrounded by shallow oil and gas wells and located atop abandoned mine land. While two producing vertical gas wells are within 1,000 feet of the home that exploded, and a pipeline runs behind the development, none of the structures have been linked to the cause of the explosion, the Post-Gazette reported.”

No mention of all the gas services lines all over the places? Fuhrer’s Gas doing work.

Natural gas explosion for sure.

Not sure where the leak was but story is the people were working on a gas water heater in the basement.

Dynamite has the power to do that but you wouldn't have the fireball in the explosion video, that was a large volume of fuel (NG) being consumed.

As far as the meth lab theories I don't think those volumes of chemicals have that much power unless they had a Heisenberg setup in that basement.

I appreciate the utility and news not wanting to create panic but stating as a matter of fact "Gas is not to blame" is terribly misleading and wrong.

Possible, but typically if there is a large leak or buildup in an interior space people notice the smell.

Fun fact, the utility puts that smell in the NG just for detection purposes.
