This leads me to believe it was something low like 5.56. The cavitation at that distance would be less lethal.....which explains the 515 injured

What was the distance? 5.56 becomes unstable at 400-500 meters and has pretty good cavitation by tumbling through the body.

The stampede has to be responsible for many of the injured number.

All the video I have seen has shown 3 separate bursts of shots, but all the witnesses say the shooting lasted 5-10 minutes. I assume at a certain point people stopped filming and started running. Probably take a few days and surveillance footage and investigation to get a final number of shots that guy fired.

Reports from earlier stated that there was a high fence with limited exits at the venue.

Yeah, the front is right up on Las Vegas Blvd. They usually have high fences at least on the road side. They do quite a few shows in that lot.

The most likely scenario was the bipod mounted AR-15’s with the bump fire stock.

I don't think a slidefire would work properly if mounted on a bipod.

I find it very unlikely that this guy had a class 3 license and several full auto guns, but who knows. Full autos are an absurd amount of money and pain in the arse to get.

It's not hard to make an AR full auto. It's just highly illegal.

Heard one reporter use "feet" for his measurements. 1500-1700 feet. That was fairly early this AM though. I am sure people are in that window with laser pointers getting better measurements.

Its been pretty well established from this thread that a class 3 is not required, just a 200 stamp and time...

People believe this because of video games. It isn't true. The video game developers just had to make it where there was a reason not to use suppressors on the games.

Obviously any situation like this is really sad, but for some reason, this one sticks more with me, guess because it’s in the US, in a place I’ve been and could have been me out there. Just horrible.

Same here. It really hits home. I leave for Vegas on the 13th and was considering leaving a few days earlier just because but for a minute this made me reconsider going at all.

CNN has an interview I guess of the brother outside his house.

That must suck to be that guy. Probably knows nothing, now having to explain his family's actions he didn't know about on national TV

Ricochets off the concrete would be injuring several people with one bullet. That would be doing more damage than the stampede.

eah that was definitely full auto

I think that people who say this have never actually fired a gun. And I'm not saying that to be cool or an a-hole. I don't know what kind of setup the guy had, but he wasn't just unloading a fully automatic rifle semi-accurately at 350-400 yrds for approximately 10 minutes. That's basically impossible. And it speaks volumes about the ignorance about guns in this country. People have seen too many action movies and spy shows, none of which translate to real life. And what's worse is they believe these movies and shows with 100% confidence and blistering ignorance.

We need to slow down and separate fact from fiction before we all jump to conclusions. Sadly, I know that's not what's happening.

Unlike the movies, you can't just sit there and fire a gun full auto in the same direction by holding the trigger. The kick of a fully automatic rifle would have you firing into the ceiling in about 4-5 shots max. You cant just "spray and pray" into a crowd 400 yrds away. And I seriously doubt he was using some highly sophisticated civilian rigged anchored and belt fed machine gun on a tripod.

This is when our culture is sickening. The news outlets are already gearing up for polarizing political spin and the DC windbags have started to "not let this go to waste". Someone should just be reporting the facts and explaining the logistics with no spin. It's sad that our government will capitalize on ignorance to push their agendas through this tragedy rather than use it to learn all we can and educate the people.

58 dead and 515 people hurt is crazy!

WTF is the story with this shooter? It can't be the first time he "went crazy"

Knowing the crowd size/visitors, popularity of the event and the vantage point of the room he booked, how far in advance does a person have to reserve a corner suite like this to even have the opportunity? Even the booking logistics of this situation are odd to me.
