Mandalay Bay is going to be pretty fricked for a while.

Yep. And I'm sure more than a few opportunists will sue them.

I mean, what else, other than having a huge security force checking each and every person and bag coming into the hotel would have prevented this?

The Strip is a concrete jungle. Mandalay Bay, Tropicana, and NYNY are nearby that I can think of. Is there still a Hooters Hotel Casino?

You realize or are told it's a shooter from a roof or window. You look around and see about 6 rooves and a thousand Windows. With the noise and commotion and echoes and concert speakers? "Cover" would be under ground.

And BTW, you're drunk in this scenario.

I'm going to the nearest fricking building and getting inside.

Edit: to my downvoters, do y'all actually think that just staying out on an OPEN STREET or a big arse OPEN CONCERT FLOOR is a good idea when there is a person shooting directly at you?

Hooters is there. They mentioned it repeatedly on the scanner last night.

The sad thing is that with a crowd that big it very well could have just been some other crazy person in a completely unrelated situation babbling about how everyone was going to die.

They're now reporting that Stephen Haddock didn't have a criminal record and was not known to law enforcement..

Just another thing that was reported thats wrong.

Didn't really intend to do that, but just pointing out all the misinformation that is rampant in the traditional news and the way it gets blown up on social media.

I remember the Dallas shootings and some poor dude who was plastered all over for a while before he was finally cleared.

Why is there never a video of the guy shooting? Just seems like with everyone having a video camera in their pocket, someone could be in a safe location and focus on the shooter. Never happens.

You also knew the name of a random, innocent guy, and his innocent wife due to the OT sleuths.

Social media is great for getting information, but there are no checks and balances, and most of the shite is false. Innocent people get their name and photo blasted across the internet due to Reddit/4chan/TD etc. all the time. It's quite pathetic.

The first names posted in here were correct.

A metal detector? These places literally spend millions to watch over their money every year. They had the resources. Not saying they should have before, but they clearly should now. It's now a changed world for hotels. Cars didn't have seatbelts, cigarettes didn't have warnings, airports didn't have tight security, but those things all changed. Events like this change the way things are handled.

I posted MariLou and Stephen as they were read over the scanner from the cops in his hotel room. That info came straight from the police on scene.

The guy had to be using drums.

Has the name of Samir al Hajib been discussed yet? Rumors out there that Israeli radio was reporting that this guy converted when he was 30.

Some people will believe any rumor that stokes their fears.
