Fox News just reported that Las Vegas police had the shooter on their radar before tonight

As I posted earlier in this thread, we had to take an active shooter training course last week. I've worked on the strip for 6 years and we've never done anything like that before.

One of the videos I saw on Reddit was insane. Guy unloaded three clips into the crowd over the course of the video and you could just hear the bullets whizzing by. Easily the worst shooting video I've seen

Define high powered rifle...

I'm listening on shitty speakers, but to me it sounds like a binary trigger or some other modified full auto. Definitely not a traditional auto seared weapon.

They have a lot more people on their radar than actually end up doing something like this.

I believe the sex offender was a different Stephen C Paddock. 15 years younger and is currently in a corrections facility.

bringing a gun into a stadium would be much tougher to pull off a shooting like this

Correct. He'd stand up to bring out his weapon from behind his trench coat all Terminator-like and there's a reasonable chance the fat guy behind him will push him out of the way just for obstructing the view.

Then I guess that you will soon be turning yours in to the local police?

realize a shotgun would be worse.

The video I heard sounded like a belt fed weapon. He fired off 50-100 rounds with very little pause.

Wow. Good video. What's amazing about that is someone's thought process was "let me sit still and shoot some video of this" and not "I am getting the frick out of here."

I can see hotels starting a new policy requiring x-ray machines and security checkpoints for their guests luggage after this.

I am thinking about same shite. More costly additions due to this retard. We had to put in those pool chair lifts at all hotels and hardly anyone has used them. All because of ADA. Each chair plus installation and Ada specifications concerning building adjustments exceeded about 10k minimum per property.

Ah. But still. He's "well known" to authorities. I'm guessing that still amounts to enough to kick him back on his class 3 license. Most likely on even an FFL.

You can buy 100 round drums fairly easy.

I'm not a crazy maniac that will end up shooting anyone. Unfortunately there is no way to tell, hence why it's scary any psycho can buy just about any gun either legally or illegally. I get the gun the nuts get all sensitive when you mention anything about being uncomfortable with people being able to buy certain weapons Willy nilly.

At this point the cat is out of the bag when it comes to guns, unfortunately.

This is one of those instances where the "it was like a war zone" comparisons is actually legitimate.

So you yourself aren't general public? You wanna take away their freedom to purchase a firearm because you don't trust them? Well I don't trust you, care to give yours up, too?
