And most folks going to a Bro-Country fest aren't springing for a suite. Why would they? You're just gonna drink, go to festival, go drink after show, and pass the frick out.

A suite is a waste of money for most of that crowd during that weekend. Like staying at The Ritz or The Omni in NOLA for Mardi Gras?
Eh, I've done 2 day trips to Vegas for concerts a few times.

Probably half of those times was getting a suite where you can pile in a bunch of folks(insert gay dude jokes here)

Does anyone else find it strange? He's brother looks fairly average, the dad was a convicted most wanted bank robber and the shooter was at one time an accountant but plays the part of high stakes gambler? Something doesn't add up.
Sure it's strange, but there is no cut and dry archetype for a mass murderer. These people have a screw or two loose.

You're going to have a hard time looking for rational explanations of a completely irrational behavior.

wait, you think this is the simplest answer?

quote:

Conspiracy theory #1: He didn't kill anyone, someone else took over his room, killed him, and escaped before police arrived.

in what world is that the simplest answer? The simplest answer would be that this guy shot a bunch of people from the hotel window.

I don't think it would have taken that much planning either... but how did he get the hotel room?

You couldn't just book that the week of unless you got lucky?

Again, prime event across the street... I doubt Luxor or Mandalay Bay had much, if any, availability, much less a room he needed specific for these acts.
All you really need is 1 open, comparable suite available.

He asks for that room/view, and they move someone booked to that room(provided they didn't ask for that room/view) to another room and Paddock to that room.

Especially someone who was known to be a heavy gambler. Likely had a reputation with the Hotel/Casino and had some pull to get whatever room he wanted.

I don’t understand why he had 10 guns. I don’t understand the point of that unless he planned on putting so many rounds down that he was concerned about barrel failure from heat and thought he would need that many weapons to cycle through.

Its just faster than reloading. You have 10 guns with 30 round clips or more in them all, and you simply drop one and pick up the other.

Will you let us know what he sees or hears.

He is terrible at texting back. Hence why It took me getting ahold of his wife that works for LVPD to find out he wasn't at work.

He just told me he got turned around and can go back to work at 12

Changing out an already loaded mag in an AR just takes a few seconds. He might have had so many guns because they can overheat with that many shots in a short period of time

Nah. The more I think about it, it was probably because he was worried about failure running drums through them on full auto. I don’t have any personal experience with full auto rifles, but I would think a 100 round drum emptied on full automatic is probably gonna get close to screwing up the gas block or receiver, at least temporarily.

OR... you know, because he was a fricking psychopath? I don't know why people spend so much time trying to make sense out of some peoples actions in these situations. You can't apply your normal reason to these nut cases.

Yeah, but you also have to have the mags organized and next to you. I realize its not a lot of time savings, but it does save time and is easier just to have more guns.

Ive worked in the ER the past 10yrs, 5 of those in a trauma ER. I cant imagine what those bystanders, ERs, law enforcement and emergency personnel went thru. Tragic.

Well yeah, that's what I was saying. If you have multiple 100 round mags on multiple guns, you simply drop one and pick up the next and you go bang a long time. Much easier than changing mags.

Given, this guy probably just brought every gun he owned. I wouldn't doubt that they found a .38 revolver or something there of his that he would have had no real use for. But why not really?
