This point is proven out by your second link...none of these, the four most common locations, would have been included in the number in your first link:

“Truth” is dependent on how the term “mass shooting” is framed. In each of your links, there are different results because each defines the term differently - but all of these studies exclude gang violence from the analysis.
If the study excludes gang violence as well as common relationships (the perpetrator and victims knew each other prior to the event) then you will have a higher percentage of white perpetrators albeit at exponentially low occurrences. If the study includes gang violence and common relationships, then the perpetuators are overwhelmingly black males and exponentially higher occurrences.
Any honest person would admit that you are measuring two different types of actions but for the last twenty years or so, gun control advocates have loved to use the demographics of the first set of shootings with the raw numbers of the second set in pursuit of their agenda.
