Does it look like the new Vette? Or does the new Vette look like it? Or do they both look like a Ferrari? Or do they all just look the same?

Mid engine cars often times end up looking pretty similar.

It does look a lot like Vette though.

most people who know anything about cars understand this brand is really shitty with quality control issues and even larger reliability issues

In recent years, yes. As an overall brand since inception though, Maserati has great racing pedigree.

It’s much like Alfa. Mention Alfa here and people say it’s an unreliable shitty brand yet Alfa is one of the most respected and beloved brands with great racing heritage.

Most people that actually know cars know these are historically great brands and are willing to deal with some quirks to own a piece of that history.

ETA: this new MC20 also marks a rebirth for Maserati. Between 2013 and 2017 Maserati was bad all around. Uninspiring cars, parts bin interiors and a high price tag. FCA/Stellantis has recently been changing that. Most of the 2019/2020 Maserati lineup gets favorable reviews.

Maserati is nothing but a glorified Chrysler. Audi is nothing but a glorified Volkswagen.

Lamborghini must just be a really glorified VW then. And Bugatti?

I think that is the equivalent to buying a Vette in this case.

They are both great cars, but they aren't a Maserati.

The Porsche badge is definitely more prestigious than the maserati.

Lamborghini is a glorified Porsche, if Porsche had electrical problems.

There are actually parts from a Chrysler Pacifica in the Maserati Levante. They are not even restamped.

Yeah, it's nice, but we already have a small car.

I don't even know if it is about prestige. Probably has to do with seeing them everywhere. To the average person a Cayman isn't much different than GT3 or whatever.

That's not saying Porsche isn't a better car. Probably some form of exclusivity or flaunting when buying a Maserati

I hear there are parts of a Ferrari in a Maserati as well.

There are all sorts of parts shared across platforms in these huge car companies.

So what bespoke vehicle do you drive?

There isn’t a single automotive group that does not share a parts bin across brands to some degree.

It's a pretty car it's just priced about $60K to high. It's priced higher then a new rwd Hurracan EVO. That car has a performante engine in it with all wheel drive steering. While the all carbon chassis is appealing I don't think it is worth the premium over an equivalent lambo or porsche. Now if this car was about $140k then you would have something and tuning and bigger turbos would make this a monster.

Huracan EVO RWD MSRP is $214,000 and options add up quick. C&D’s tester had an as tested price of $276k.

I don’t think the EVO RWD has rear wheel steering. Also, Huracan has 602hp/413tq vs MC20 621hp/538tq.

If the MC20 comes in at or under $200,000 as Maserati are saying, it’d be a better value over an equivalent Porsche or Lamborghini even after considering options which usually rack up quick for Porsche and Lambo. FCA tend to package options vs a la carte like VW Group.
