Legal weed has become a defining characteristic of Colorado, for better or worse.

There are other states that have it but Colorado is always the one people think of.

Colorado

Far less crowded, I can find places outside the big cities that appeal to me.

the tax burden is probably only slightly higher in MD than CO. and depending on the municipality in CO you could easily get strapped paying sales taxes higher than hunter biden in a shady motel

Colorado ranks about 4th as the lowest property taxes in the country. I pay a higher rate in Florida and Idaho than I do in Colorado. I also think that in Colorado we get way more for what we pay. There are tons of parks and open space that are well maintained. In Boulder County we have over 350 miles of paved bike/walking paths and triple that of hiking trails that are also well maintained. Simply put we pay less than Louisiana but we have nice stuff.

Because it was an early adopter, ended up getting a bunch of slackers moving there.

wouldnt have had such an impact had it opened across all states.

Rural Maryland seems far more preferably to me to rural Colorado. More culturally conservative (less libertarian), more culturally southern, nice scenery, good schools, the only issue is the state politics. From what I hear about Colorado (Texas gets conservative refugees from there) the state government is also bad.

My wife (no pics) is 6th generation eastern shore and has a lot family there. I can tell you it’s very conservative there but also difficult to get to and from. Same to be said about lots of rural Colorado. Connectivity is an important factor to me, I can’t be more than 30 minutes from an airport.

Wife and I came within a half of an inch to moving to Fort Collins about 15 years ago.

Mother in law had health issues so we decided to stay in br and the cost of living in Ft. Collins as compared to br factored in.

Now with retirement coming in view we are looking at NE oklahoma as a possibility.

Colorado but probably not to any of the big cities. Maybe Durango.

Colorado by a mile. The beautiful scenery and outdoor activities negate the liberals.

Colorado because Maryland taxes are way too high for me.

Median salary to COL ratio for Colorado is atrocious though. It’s as bad as South Florida. All of the transplants from SF, LA, and NYC have basically turned Denver and Miami into resort cities for retirees and remote workers. The economies for both of those cities are heavily reliant on tourism and real estate. Maryland has much better wages relative to its COL and taxes.

I moved from Newnan GA to Fort Collins Colorado in 2019. The absolute best decision I've ever made. My entire immediate family lives in Baton Rouge and I cant see myself moving back to that ugly , hot crime ridden town anytime soon

Today I learned the Second Amendment is not applicable in a state in the United States of America. Fascinating stuff!

Maryland is cold in winter, hot/humid in summer, expensive, tons of “culture”, tons of snobby over educated liberals, and next to DC. Might be the last state I want to live in.

You left out that the people suck. Also, any normal people in Maryland have been moving to Carolinas in droves. MD will only get worse.
