Do some people just do this for attention?

One or both of them is a narcissist. There is no other reason to renew vows after 3 years other than to seek attention. Are they expecting people to bring gifts?

I knew some folks who did this after about 7 years of marriage. The dude had cheated. Now the wife dresses like she's on little house on the prairie and they drive a few hours to a latin mass every sunday. He's manipulative AF.

3 years somebody cheated. 10 years and after, probably just a cute gesture.

3 years ago was around covid time. Was this a covid wedding that not alot of people were able to attend and they’re just getting around to a big celebration? I could understand that maybe.

This was going to be my question. I've also heard of couples who eloped and decided to renew vows later, just as an excuse to have a proper celebration with loved ones.

If they had a traditional wedding and reception though, three years is ridiculous to renew vows for.

nip this in the bud. Y’all are going to go to 15 weddings for this duo in the next 25 years.

I get this. My wife and I had a small justice of the peace ceremony and have casually talked about redoing it in a church. But we kinda come back to the “if it ain’t broke” position when we think of the thousands of dollars to do it

At 50 yrs. of marriage I told them I wasn't renewing my vows because I never wore out the original ones.

I wouldn't go to that. It's just attention seeking. If couples want to renew their vows I have no problem with that, but do it in private for crying out loud.

If someone invites me to their vow renewals and they haven't been married at least 20 years i'm not going. Unless there's an open bar and a band.

ETA. I’d rather deal with the fallout of not attending.

I don’t go to weddings anymore either

Like every wedding I’ve been to the people are divorced by now

I’ve seen it done before because a couple could not afford the big wedding they wanted when they first got married so they just had one a couple years down the road.

was a short, brief ceremony followed by a bad arse reception. I had a blast

She cheated. This was his idea, she is going along to make it seem like she is still in the marriage.

She will be gone in a year or 2 and he will feel like a idiot for trying to hang on to it via words, words she's already broken once.

I think vow renewals in general are dumb, but this is beyond that
